I’ve recently get one from thomann, great machine good price perfect to be sequenced by octatrack…
but what about the tune knob?why it’s dont work like a pitch on other gear?In fact when i turn it nothing happened…
In the manual page 3:
1.3 Tune
Fine tuning the pitch (+ / - 1 semitone)
, I wrote to mode machine they told me it’s normal :“The Tune-Button will only work, if the unit is actually detuned. If it is in tune, it will have no effect.”
And yet, In this rare vid of demo at 3, 24 the man use it and it’s work like i expect.
But if that knob allows tuning +/- 1 semitone. It seems to me that in that vid he´s actually running his unit de-tuned from the start.
I can´t imagine that it´s possible to go lower (= -1 semitone) when the knob is already turned at far left. At least if it is an potentiometer (which it seems to be).
I have a x0xb0x. It also has to be tuned to my other gear if I want to use it. It doesn’t have an auto tune button. I can change the playback pitch by just turning the knob lots. The knob isn’t like most synths, by that I mean it is not +/- 12 semitones (1 octave). It is more like +/- 7 semitones (I think). I tune it by sequencing a bunch of A notes and matching it by ear to another root A note (I use pitch pipes for this - real handy for tuning all sorts of instruments even analog synths). But I think this is the same in roland tb-303 also.
I reckon when auto tune is on, the tune knob becomes the fine tune knob.
Despite the name, the x0xb0x is technically quite unrelated to the x0x rack. [/quote]
Well it has the same parameters, sounds the same and still has to be tuned in the same manner. Just has to sequenced externally . Not to mention the fact that Modemachines have been manufacturing x0xb0xen for years now. Sure the x0xb0x has more features but other than that I can’t imagine they could be too different. Just guessing here. Never used one.
