Not much to say beside this.
They will be giving more details, later.
Wow! I love my Wurlitzer 200A. It’s a great instrument. Would love to see them back on the market!
Oh I hope it’s not $10k like the rhodes.
I would really love an EP at a decent price!
That picture made me think small/far away
Partly disappointing but still intrigued

Same here.
Love the 200.
Vintage Vibe teased few years back about a reed piano… it hasn’t come yet.
Nice to see Wurlitzer in the news
This looks to be a bit of a disappointment.
From the end of June Wurlitzer put up this image for their new 250 D.
No more detail from Wurlitzer yet, but Dexibell emailed out this :
Wurlitzer has chosen Dexibell , the renowned Italian producer of electronic pianos, to breathe new life into the revered Wurlitzer sound . The development of the new Wurlitzer 250D combines of Dexibell’s industry-leading sampling and advanced modeling technology with Wurlitzer’s heritage of exceptional craftsmanship. This partnership marks a significant milestone in evolving the classic Wurlitzer sound with cutting-edge innovations, creating a one-of-a-kind instrument that is authentic yet modern.
So it is digital, at least for now. Of course it may sound good digitally, and will no doubt be a lot more affordable. No word when yet.
The “to breathe new life into the revered Wurlitzer sound” seems a bit of a snub, or at least a poor choice of wording. But we can leave that aside.
The ‘D’ may just be a letter. But i also wondered if it might stand for Dexibell or digital or maybe desktop ??
More information is still awaited.
well… IMO the yamaha reface cp has the best wurli sound out there when it comes to samples. hook it up to a random 88 key digital home piano via midi and you are grant.
maybe this one will look like the original, but that’s not really a reason to spend tons of money on it.
weren’t they teasing it with the technology of the original in the beginning?
No, they only had an image up, which is shown in the first post of this thread.
I totally agree. One of my best gear purchases of all time. I stupidly sold mine and had to buy it back at a premium to what I originally paid as they got more expensive.
I wonder what the release timeline on this is?
anyone find out any other info? seems like this latest post has been the most recent teaser.
Maybe NAMM 2025?
I wouldn’t hold my breath for that. These old brands tend to think they have more cache and therefore can charge a premium effectively for a badge. I’ll be happy to be proved wrong tho
In context – a digital version from Wurlitzer will be a lot more affordable than the electro mechanical version. You’re right that there’ll no doubt be a premium either way.
Ah yeah, I agree digital vs. electromechanical
but I do wonder what this is going to bring to the table other than obviously those classic 200 looks.
I guess it’ll probably have speakers, but I have the feeling it’s going to offer less than a Dexibell stage keyboard at a higher price…
I can’t imagine it’ll include a spectrum of sounds, that just seems strange. Unless it’s a 1to1 port of a dexibell keyboard in a cool wurli costume?
the more I think about it, the more I imagine I won’t get one, unless there is a big surprise
I feel like this project may be dead.
Their site has totally pivoted and I got an email today from Rhodes saying Wurlitzer endorses their new Wurli plug-in. That’s about the most recent news i’ve heard from Wurlitzer. Feels like two years later they would have kept information coming if there was still a physical product in the works.
Bummer, but also it was pretty vapor-y to begin with. so ![]()
Me too, and i read it over carefully.
I don’t think we have enough information to know what is happening behind the scenes.
Total speculation but here’s my thought.
The rights to the Wurlitzer brand was reacquired by the family in 2021. I think this includes rights to the electric piano worldwide. ( Source )
The product in the first post of this thread, was to be an virtual, digital recreation to be made by Dexibell.
My speculation only, but the solid nugget of worth for Wurlitzer with the electric piano, would be in manufacturing a new electric piano with modern updates to the original technology and sound. That would also be an expensive challenge.
But you know who has the proven ability and interest in doing that sort of thing ? The new Rhodes group. They certainly have shown the capacity and interest to do this, and the ability to make it a success – as shown with what they did reviving the Rhodes piano. This licensing deal may be a first step to establish a relationship, and lay the groundwork for this sort of development deal.
