Im upgrading to an OTmk2 and im looking at the DT and ARmk2 and im wondering what YOU GUYS would pick in my situation, if you were in my position and chose either or and why. The new Rytm updates make it much more versitile and i cant see many posts on its updated functionality and how it compares to the digitakt now. i’d love to hear your experience so i can get a better perspective on either with the OT and why you chose your device or why not the other.
If money and space are no problem, why would you not want the extra features and synthesis offered by the Rytm? Especially since you already have the best Elektron sampler in the OT. It’s a no brainer for me!

…dt is nothing but a way more simplified version of the ot…way more handy and easy to overlook, but end of the day not even half of the options in mono only everlasting punch…
do u love truu analog drums?..
or do u might miss out on some drumsynthesis anyway…?
rytm is the queen of drummachines…but if analog vibes are not ur main goal u might consider all the pros of realtime synthesized drumsounds anyway and go beyond with a proper synthesizer that can do it all…the digitone…so or so, u got sampling covered already…

…analog vibes are analog vibes…rytm has dedicated analog engines for all drum purposes…
but in sonic ovearall essence, the main difference in feel is always…synthesized or sampled…
and yes, the tone can do amazing drum sythesis while adding analog subtractive charme with it’s filter capabilities…and while the rytm can do so much exclusively with drumsounds and mixing and melting analog vibes with sampled vibes the tone can also spent pads of all kind, bass of all kind, seq teq’s of all kind, arps of all kind…from super harsh to super lush, from hi tone singin’ to earthshakin rumble…it’s a full fledged synth…no matter what…
and beside all that and just my personal pov…i’d always choose an a4 over a rytm…even if i’d only search for truu analog drum sounds…

By DT do you mean Digitone? Because for most people here DT = Digitakt and DN = Digitone.

trying to see if i want to get a digitakt or analog rytm to pair with my octatrack for sample based music making i have ableton for synths but i love drum machines and pads but hate the mpc live i just sold
FWIW I vote AR Mk2 if it’s within budget. The filters are nice. DT feels a bit redundant with the OT.
thats exactly what i was thinking, it has the CV and OB as well as analog filters. thank you i think thats what i’ll do.
Just to clarify. AR doesn’t have CV outs (though you can use an Impulse machine for this alongside other gear). Only the A4 has proper CV outs.
