I’m a new Octa owner, traded used. Cutting straight to the chase, the Level knob is very wobbly. I’m familiar with normal digital encoder wobbliness (from Eurorack modules) but this seems to have a lot more side to side play compared to all the other encoders.
So I’m wondering if is is an early warning sign. Or perfectly normal, or what?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Already loving the thing, just worried about longevity. This is after all not a cheap toy.
FYI - I remember seeing somewhere that this didn’t end up solving his problem.
I had the same issue with a used OT + headphone issues and x-fader issue.
Luckily mine was still under warranty, so it got fixed at no cost by elektron
One of my encoders has some play in it… It seems to work just fine but I can kinda make it so the shaft moves to a slight angle from vertical, where the other ones are more firmly planted straight up and down…
Wondering anyone’s experience and if it will just stay like that for a long time and be fine, or if it’s a possible sign that it might get worse or something?
Cool, thanks for that. It does seem like it will just stay like that, I just wanna make sure I’m good to go with the trusty mk1 for awhile… I guess I’m considering if I should get a couple replacement encoders just to have around while I know there’s still parts for mk1…
I think the guy who traded me his OT used to used it for step aerobics or something as virtually all the encoders were bent and moved in an elliptical fashion! They always worked without issue though. It was the midi button that gave up in the end but when being replaced, HQ fitted all new encoders FREE OF CHARGE!
Gotta love’em…
