I am looking for a simple wired stereo mic for my iPhone. I was recording some of my playing and I knew the sound wouldn’t be that great so I thought what is out there? Something that gets me reasonable sound and not that expensive. I know I could use my mixer out but sometimes I comment on something that I am doing. All I found was wireless stuff for podcasting, etc. thanks!
Lightning? USB-C?
Sorry, lightning.
There is also the IQ7 from the same company.
I’ve got this one from Shure: MV88+ Video Kit - Stereo Condenser Microphone - Shure USA
The mic is surprisingly good, but I notice I have ended up recording much more with the built-in mic of my iPhone just because of convenience. Why is stereo audio recording not a standard feature on today’s smart phones? Most of them come with at least three mics ands many can record stereo sound for video, but audio recording is always mono.
You can stereo record with a few apps on the iPhone. AUM lets you address all the mics separately, and there’s one that’s just called “Stereo Microphone” that’s super simple, and can saves into the files app for easy sharing. You can even choose which stereo mics to use.
The built in “Voice Memos” app within iOS gives you recording capabilities with the option of lossless or lossy recording and stereo or mono.
