Wing Drum from Phonicbloom

Wing Drum from Phonicbloom

This is an electronic instrument with nine capacitive touch sensitive pads, a choice of sounds – handpan, steel tongue drum, xylophone, glockenspiel generated from a choice of three different physical modeling synths, with 6 voice polyphony, and delay and reverb effects.

There is a choice of scales and keys selectable. It can be battery powered with a headphone output or connected to external speakers. There is a motion and position sensor built in to modify things like the reverb and delay. It also has MIDI output so could be used as a simple controller to allow you a little inspiration from an alternative interface.

It’s small 6 inches or 15 cm across and 2 inches or 5 cm tall, with a real wood surround, and fiberglass top in either black or white. The price is quite reasonable and pre-order will be accepted soon, with the hope of a Christmas delivery.

They made the product Loopsynth, Glo, and also recently announced another new product MMXX T-APE.

Hmm, it’s attractive, and looks fun to noodle on. I’ll keep an eye on this one.

I like the sounds myself too, it’s simple and straight forward, something you can abandon any pretense and just play, and hopefully enjoy. Perhaps an appeal for me too, is that i can see a six year old enjoying it.
