The due diligence rules are being either repealed (German supply chain labour law) or delayed, watered down and (potentially, in time) scrapped (eg the EU corporate sustainability due diligence directive).
The politics have changed. There is significant concern within the EU institutions that economic performance is declining in the major EU economies (especially Germany). Anything that makes doing business more complicated or more expensive is now being swept away.
The due diligence stuff dates back many years to an era when economies were stronger, pre Covid, pre Ukraine, pre Trump. Different world now.
This is part of my day job and Iâve worked on this stuff for a long time. There is a rapid sea change underway.
There may be additional tariffs in EU on Chinese commodities, components and products at some point (dumping is a serious risk) but no way in hell would the EU pursue anything against China that gets near what Trump is doing. That would be an inflationary nightmare within weeks.
Music gear prices will go up in EU and everywhere outside US I think, but mainly because the bigger manufacturers will try to pursue worldwide RRP strategies that cushion the blow for US consumers and pass on some of the pain to consumers outside the US to balance out.
he was elected to destroy though, chaos agents gonna do what a chaos agentâs gotta do.
Everything is designed to perfectly accomplish the result of what it does, look at the common cup, how itâs made, what it does and the efficiency of how it achieves itâs goal⌠now look at Trump, his failings, and misgivings are a finely tuned instrument as are the spirit behind those failings and misgivings. Nothing is left to chance.
well you can date black girls and still be a nahtzee sympathizer⌠just ask halle berry or Sally Hemings
and of course Drumpf didnât invent hatred but at the very least heâs as much of his own tool as he is the tool of others, I wouldnât blame him for the fact that all of the other straws underneath him are straws, but I wouldnât blame all of the other straws underneath him for the fact that heâs a straw either, and I damn sure wouldnât blame the camel.
I am aware of individual EU tariffs on things like EVs and solar panels, itâs true the EU wants to protect its domestic manufacturers which include many global brands.
However there is nothing coming from the EU like Trump recent super-tariffs. The EU is not backing him up or cooperating with him on this, and if anything they are trying to sharply limit their coordination with the US because they have lost confidence about US support for NATO,. Sorry, I do not think your original comment passes even casual scrutiny.
Its not a causual subject, so no it shouldbt be srutinsed casually. Especially so if only following the issues of tarrifs in the past two months after a famous politicial mentioned it.
Tarrifs and non tarrif barriers have been an area of warring for a few years now. And no its not just about âprotecting domestic manufacturersâ. Thatâs the kind of comnent that comes from casual view of a far more conplex subject.
Temu has added a separate line item at checkout showing the âimport chargeâ ( tariff ) when you buy an item for import from them.
Iâd like to know specifically what the tariff cost will be when i purchase a synth here in the US. I really hope large retailers like Sweetwater and Amazon and GC, etc, also add this sort of information to their bill so you can know and openly make decisions based on this.
Even if you had to specifically ask them directly, knowing this information is a buyerâs right.
This has been talked about with Amazon, though it is not clear if this is actually really something in process, or is just a rumor. Karoline Leavitt was asked about this, this morning, and said she had talked to the President about it, and said, âThis is certainly a hostile and political action by Amazon.â
Openness and information, is hostile to those that want information suppressed.
I went in to GC last weekend to pick up a used DT2 I doom traded and one of the employees said there is talk of GC shutting down all together depending on how bad the tariffs get.
In fairness, every company Iâve worked for had a handful of employees who consistently spoke about the company shutting down, locking the doors, mass layoffs and what ever terrible things they could muster up in their miserable minds!
Good or bad it doesnât matter, people will always be people!
GC did file bankruptcy in 2020. Theyâve had some good years since but it is not unreasonable to see them shrinking, or closing down entirely as the economy in the US deteriorates. The shock wave here is still yet to hit.
ADDED : Orders for the Christmas season are being made right now. Toy stores arenât ordering toys, or far fewer. The Christmas season accounts for a large share of a retailers revenue. If they forecast losing money then, they can be forced to pull the plug now.
ADDED ( Aside ) : I just wrote my MAGA house rep again, asking him if he is aware that the US economy is crashing.
