Will i be able to this with an Octatrack?

Hi. I am thinking about buying the octatrack but I have some questions I hope you can help me out with before I make up my mind.

Will I be able to connect a midi keyboard playing on a specific channel to the input of the OT and connect the out of the OT to a synth only listening on that specific channel?
What I want to achieve is getting the tempo sync, and the sequencer feature from the OT to the synth, and in the same time being able to play the synth from a midi keyboard.
Is this possible?

When I play with my band we have a lot of different songs in different tempo. Is it possible to store different tempo settings to patterns(don’t know if this is the right term). I would like to have stored different tempo settings to different songs in the same project.

I hope you can help me.
Thanks
Thomas

The OT out port will send clock and sequenced stuff. The thru port would send the original keys info, so you’d need to merge midi. The A4 allows internal keys to pass through the out, but i don’t expect that the OT would do the pass through of an externally connected keyboard. Tempo is not storable with pattern, but tap tempo is very quick

To expand on avantronica’s answer:
It sounds like you want a similar setup to mine. Midi from keyboard to OT. Midi out from OT to synth. Midi data received by the OT is passed on to midi out if you want it to, so the synth receives both the channel I play live on my keyboard and my sequenced OT midi channels.

The midi sequencer on the OT is a step sequencer, though, and have some limitations. You can’t record gradually changing CC values, for instance. It would end up as one value per step.

I have a project that I use as a “template” with all my usual settings, including midi channels etc. Whenever I start something new I load that project, save it with a new name and use that so I don’t mess up the template. However, the OctaTrack has an Arranger mode where you can set the tempo for various patterns. So I think the arranger would work well for what you want to do with many songs in one project.

Ah, that’s handy if you can send midi through the out port  Plus some good info on arranger there which i’ve never switched on !

Thanks for answers.
Good to hear that it is possible to preform with the midi setup i had in mind.
