Why all the elektron products don’t have the same Individual Track Lengths like Octatrack?
I think it was very cool to standardize the Track Lengths format on all the Elektron devices with the Octatrack’s format. This will avoid math calculation when tou use the Octatrack with other Elektron’s gear!
I don’t think there is a real answer to this question other than “it is like it is”.
Of course it would be great if common features like that one whould be harmonized between the different devices, but Elektron isn’t really known for that.
Nevertheless: sending a(nother) feature request to Elektron doesn’t hurt and we can still hope
The devices have been made over a 20 year period , I’d guess they thought the revisions were better or had different technical ways to do it as the hardware changed over time.
Maybe it’s like asking why my old tv doesn’t display 4K hdr colour ?
I wouldn’t hope for an update either , just get on with how it works now. I’ve never found it to be an issue though I mostly use 16 to 64 steps at normal bpm.
I think the main thing with the OT is that it’s a sampler. And samples can be crazy. I think Elektron offered this feature to be accommodating to whatever potential sample you put into it- but I think the intended philosophy of making music was consistent with their overarching goal.
Would be cool though. Especially with their synths- have the pads run on a different calculation than the bass lines. I can see the logic against it, but it would still be cool to have that option
