Why can’t I find the Step Sequencer in Ableton?

I’m having a confusing afternoon. There should be a step sequencer available in Live Suite (I have the trial), but I can’t find it anywhere. Here’s what it says on the Ableton site:

Please note: Buffer Shuffler 1.0 and Step Sequencer are legacy devices - use them if you have Live Sets made in Live 8 with Buffer Shuffler which you would like to use in Live 9. Otherwise, please use Buffer Shuffler 2.0 (for Buffer Shuffler 1.0) and MonoSequencer (for Step Sequencer), available in the Max for Live Essentials Pack.

But it’s nowhere to be found. Can anyone help?

Should be in the Max for Live folder shown here:

This is everything in my Max for Live folder.

Hmm, did you download the Max for Live Essentials Pack as quoted in your first post? I’m not on my computer to check right now

It’s in the m4L essentials, I believe as @craig has jusy said.

In that you’ll find the con reverb and pitch and time devices as well (afaicr)

The Ableton product page for it says that it’s included, but I can’t find that, either

you want to go to Places : Packs : Max for Live Essentials

^^ operative language here. You want MonoSequencer if you’re using Live 10.

If that essentials pack isn’t installed, you can find the installer at Max for Live Essentials | Ableton

I just found that link too. Says for Live 9, then says later on requirements are for Live 9.5 and higher. Weird phrasing!

Edit: So maybe it’s automatically included in Live 10? I don’t know, I’ve been on v9 for years now

Might I add that this step sequencer is also pretty cool and a whole lot of fun:

It’s similar to the mono seq but can also be used for Elektron style p-locks of up to 5 additional parameters (beyond the standard note/octave/velocity/gate/tie)
