Who's using an A4 cv to Modular?

All the Eurorack cases I’ve bought (four different manufacturers) included screws. The screws belong to the case, not the modules, IMO. There are too many different types of screws in use: M3, M2.5, #4-40, maybe more. No matter which type a manufacturer chooses, it’s the “wrong” type for someone out there. So I don’t include screws with the modules.[/quote]
Makes sense…I just robbed two that came with my metropolis so all good until I go buy some.
I’m guessing by your post that you are the module designer…excellent module…well worth the money for anyone who is using their A4 with modular IMO.

Very good question! Why am I using 2 CV’s for clock? I won’t be from now on!

I have recently acquired a Xaoc Warna which is an awesome utility 2x buffered mults which have polarity switches, and a CV summing section as well, I may end up with another of these as it is super handy. I do like different clock sources and have a 4ms RCD and an Intellijel Plog(which I use more for gates), Trigger Riot can be used as a clock divider too (which I mainly use for rhythmic gates and triggers).

To be honest I have been busy learning and experimenting with all these new modules (which I somehow managed to buy in the space of 8 months, as well as SH-101, TT-303 and Xbase999) that I haven’t tried a lot with the A4’s CV. This thread has inspired me to get to it though, so I’ve set it up as CVA-clock(multed), CVB-Linear and will use it with P Locks or LFO to control the Oct shift on the Metroplolis, CVC-Gate for control of Xmod on the René, and CVD-Linear used with LFO which I will P Lock at different rates and use for whatever…I think this is a good starting point to experiment with.

Yep, that’s me. Glad you’re happy with the Synapse. I tried the insert cable route initially, but I wanted something that was easier to set up and provided some visual feedback for those “why isn’t it working” moments that are so common when patching.

I thought you were going to say that you were clocking two different sequencers at different tempos for polyrhythms (an obvious but overlooked technique).

did a little video on metropolis modes (below)…the synapse was invaluable

I used the A4 to clock the metro, however, since I was adjusting stages, pulses, etc etc to odd values I also used the CV track on the A4 (into reset on the metro) so I could get things back to normal after messing up the timing with odd stage/pulse counts…I had drums and a short note hit on the A4 to help me see the sync (and sync up audio/video afterwards)

if you are doing any CV at all with the A4 I think the synapse is still something to get…even if you don’t have a bunch of other modules…the positive/negative visual feedback is priceless

Nice video!
What are you using to reset the metropolis from the A4? I use a pulse from my modular - just curious to see how you’re doing it.

I’m trying not to spend a ton of money on modules so I don’t have a lot right now (I know it is a futile effort in the long run).

I just took one of the outputs from the grayscale synapse into the metro clock input…what I did on the A4 was set one of the CV outs to send 5V and I would place a trig on the 1 (and sometimes 1,5,9,13) CV track…you can actually see it on certain parts in the video if you know what you are looking for…like when I show the reverse mode things really get out of wack…so there is one point where I don’t adjust anything in the STAGES menu but it keeps going back…that’s me just laying the trigs down on the 1/5/9/13 so it gets back into sync.

edit
ooops, the part I mention above is actually on fixed reverse mode around 3:25

Just curious, has anyone noticed the cv out pitch of one of your outs is just slightly different than the others? I have tried it via a Synapse as well as via converter cables, and if I set all four CV tracks to V/oct, track one will always be just a few cents off, I first noticed it using the cv with a Mutable Braids, since it has a quantised output it would shift the C to a C sharp on only CV #1, the rest are perfectly flat.

Never noticed that. I’ll try it tonight.

Hi all,

I’m close to completing my Modular (104/84), but I can’t seem to commit to an idea on what to fill the remaining HP with.

Everything here I have except the PW (also considering a QCD)

I’m interested in sound design and rhythmic / pulse / underscore type patches. Even with the A4 and White Whale I’m still considering another seq option (PP+Brains, Rene).

I feel another envelope source, maybe switching out the Dixie for a different flavoured sound source, more utility, random CV source.

Any suggestions?

If you’re thinking about more modulation and seq, what about Yarns?

running an analog keys into make noise DPO

trigging pitch is fine with keys but a couple of things i need advice on

pitch and note from keys seems not to transpose down and always seems like a high pitch
is there a simple step up for deep/dark notes for bass or drones here, that i am missing?

envelopes ADSR don’t seem to trig or change the nature of the dpo - what am i doing wrong here? CV/gate?

lastly what options are people using with LFOs and the MN DPO

For now I want to keep everything contained within the modular and just have the computer for recording audio.

Make sure you have v/oct selected and tune the DPO to around the same pitch register as the A4 so the transposing pitch matches.
Check the manual to see what Voltage rage the DPO expects for modulation. Envelopes need a recorded trig to fire.

Got it.
THANK YOU, very much whatis
great will do
waiting for work time count down now!

I use this for interfacing between my A4 and Atlantis.

What’s the module to the left of Braids ?

Thats monome’s white whale

Is there a way to get playable poly out of the A4 to CV?
I know I can use a different track but that wont help…

Good question biologik - bump!!!

E350 Synth tech incoming today :)- anyone using this with the A4??

Nedavine, with Maths what is its approximation to the A4 LFOs/envelopes -i.e is it covering similar ground
