My dream job would be gear manual proofreader Worldwide!
Just remember I need hands-on experience to ‘check’ the manual is correct
Actually, fuck it, send me the gear and I’ll write the manual as payment for said unit…

I used to fantasize about having this kind of job as well. Imagine writing manuals or guides for pieces of gear you love as a profession. YUM!
Yeah, it’s perfect!
Put a bit of passion in the pages!
Too many bits of gear ship with the attitude ‘ooh look at me, I’m hot, you wanna play?’.
‘Well read this boring slab of scientific nonsense written by a robot’s pet suicidal lab rat and if you’re still here maybe I’ll share some secrets’.
The best manuals educate generally (about sound? synthesis? etc.) and specifically (about the device). The Madrona Labs manuals are great from that perspective.
I shall peruse them now you’ve highlighted their worth!
Manuals should be a friend!
The Elektron manuals are weird because they explain every function and parameter but don’t go too much into how to apply the functions toward musical techniques, or how to flow with the instrument. Moog manuals seem to go much further in how the parameters can be used for music, and have some explanation of fundamental synthesis…
Oddly, I don’t mind because it makes the Elektrons more of a mystery box that you keep uncovering things it can do for a long time…
decided I’m actually gonna learn how to program a 303 properly. Always used em half baked before
(ps - not the largest manual around)
I study gear manuals as if I’m sitting the LSATs
I got my A4 this week and I’ve already printed the pdf manual got it wire bound and sat here currently sifting through it with a pencil and a highlighter.
The fun for me is learning a new piece of kit and getting better at using it over time. I started a year ago on the electribe 2 then moved to ableton and now I’ve got the A4 and the Mother-32 to pick apart. Hopefully by the time I get around to the Octatrack I won’t be tired of things… or lose my hearing
THEY ACTUALLY INCLUDED A PRINTED MANUAL?!?!?! r
Yea … but if I compare my Moogs to my Elektron boxes, I would say that the Elektrons are more complex, technically speaking
If Elektron would try to explain many practical use cases, it would take a really thick book. Just imagine, Cenk would write down his knowledge … BTW … wouldn’t it be great, if he did? Would be a nice Kick-Starter project, wouldn’t it?
No i printed one i find on internet
Well that was smart OF YOU
