White oled digitone screen repair

I tried doing this myself do you have any suggestions for what to do with this I got a replacement screen from elektron suppliers compatible with the digitone keys
But after soldering
It turned inverted and upside down

Update
Resoldred yellow screen on works fine

Desoldered yellow screen again

Desoldered flex pcb on yellow and white identical screens
thens swapped them and white is still mirrored and upside down when resoldered

Does anyone know how to program or change cfg file on oled screen

support said it was A software issue
All soldering was done carefully
Cheers

I would say, they sold you a screen as compatible that isn’t compatible. Looks to see as if Y axis is inverted. I bought some OLED Screens from china for private projects and in the same order-back of the same product, some turned out to have exactly that issue.
I was able to fix that by telling the software to handle that, but thats no option on an elektron device.
I would contact the shop you bought it and ask for a replacement that really is compatible and not just looks right.

Cheers my man I appreciate the update
They were both the same mced0070model screen I’ll check with the company I got it from

Yeah I think this screen you used has a different configuration, probably the pin assignments are wrong. You could try hooking up some dupont cables and switching the pins around (best to refer to datasheets rather than blindly) and if you find it is only 1 or 2 pins that need swapping it should be possible using small wires instead of those pins. But probably best just to get a compatible screen IMHO.

Elektron care will sell you the correct screen, and it’s pretty inexpensive. Maybe not aliexpress inexpensive, but still maybe cheap enough to make you want to dodge this headache that you have now.

Cheers fellas
Just to clarify the screen I got is from the elektron supplier in Melbourne and is the compatible screen which is what makes this confusing

Hi,

What is the reference of the OLED screen ? Do you have some pictures top bottom ?
Maybe the datasheet of this screen is avalable, and a custom microcontroller can be connected to configure it the correct way…

This is model of the white Oled screen same name as the yellow one but didn’t work for some reason

There is another very similar one the ui WEO012864j which you can find schematics for
And has worked in the past with a flex ocd swap here:
Yellow > White (DT, DN/K screen) - #14 by Airyck

I don’t quite know what “the elektron supplier in Melbourne” means but I’m not aware of Elektron manufacturing anything in Melbourne?

Even in the United States I had to wait for replacement parts to be sent to the US repair facility from their Swedish HQ.

Either that electronics supplier sold you the wrong item or a faulty item.

Any time you spend not addressing it with them makes it less likely that they will support getting this resolved for you :frowning:

They are the best persons to help you with this! Not that we don’t want to be helpful but they are best equipped and knowledgeable to assist you with getting your device up and running, or at least getting you a refund so you can get a known good replacement part from Elektron.

Provenance of parts and suppliers is very important post-pandemic since moderately sized manufacturers are still get busted or outright counterfeit parts from their sources.

Elektron has a lot more invested in vetting their pool of parts than whatever a “Melbourne Elektron supplier” would mean, but it should be up to the vendor to support that they’re selling you a valid part.
