I’m getting static noise coming from my Focal Alpha Speakers that wasn’t there before i added my Zoom R24 to the mix. All i have else connected is my DSI Prophet Rev 2. When i connect the Prophet directly to the speakers absolutely no noise whatsover. The noise is more noticeable when i play notes. Like a white noise. I am using TRS balanced cables. I have turned down the gain on the mixer but its still there albeit a little bit less. Im not sure what to do next. Any ideas?
Does anyone know of a Mixer/Recorder that doesn’t have noise? I played the recorded WAV file back through my headphones on my laptop and there is no noise whatsoever (which is the main thing). I thought the Zoom r24 would be good but the playback noise is pretty annoying especially at lower frequencies.
Hard to pinpoint the problem just from the description alone.
Maybe the signal going into the mixers is a bit too hot and it‘s clipping somewhere?
Maybe an issue with the electricity in the room?
Theres only the DSI Prophet going into the mixer and no clipping is shown on the mixer in fact ive been very conservative.
Nothing else is turned on in the studio.
I’d like to add the Focal Monitors are fantastic and there is just a tinge of humm which is usual for studio monitors with class D. I’m quite disappiinted with the Zoom but evrything else about it i love. The cables are all pro and ive switched to other ones but the white noise remains no matter.
Hmm, what exactly is the recorded .wav that you mentioned?
Its a patch from the Prophet Rev 2. Just a bass line.
Yes, how did you record it?
Edit: Because if it‘s a clean recording, and if the Prophet directly sounds clean, then it seems like there‘s something funky stuff going on at the output stage of the mixer.
Are you running any type of power conditioning?
No just standard.
I recorded directly into a stereo track. Yes im thinking that the output of the mixer is the culprit. But what to do?
Do you happen to have a powered USB hub nearby? I recently had a similar problem and it turned out to be a hub (only while connected to an outlet). In my case, I disconnected the wall power and all the noise went away.
No usb hub. I must stress the noise only comes out when i depress a key. Its not there all the time. A hissing accompanying sound to he bass note im playing.
Could you solve the issue or find the source of it? Having the same issue with my Maschine Mk3. I thought maybe a passive monitor controller could help as the Maschine has a high main level output of +18 dbu max.
Is the noise only at low volumes but not at high volumes?
