Which 61 Midi Cntrl Kybd for A4?

Hey,

something completely different…which 61 Midi controller keyboard is matching well with the Analog Four? All the manufacturers have DAWs in mind, but which one is recommandable and works nice and smooth with the A4 and Monomachine?

I want velocity sensitivity, aftertouch at least 61 keys, a Fatar keybed and a few extra knobs to control some A4 or Monomachine synth parameter. I wont use it for my DAW and no use for rubber pads either.

Novation SL maybe? [ltr]http://www.thomann.de/de/novation_remote_61_sl_mkii.htm[/ltr]

Arturia Keylab 61 or STudiologic VMK161? Or Roland A-800?
What would you recommend and why?

M-Audio Axiom Pro 61. Road worthy, metal chassis, nice semi-weighted action, very programmable, Zones, Sliders with Banks, Rotary Encoders with Pages, programmable Buttons and Keypad. Transport controls although I have not been successful with achieving that, yet. Zones can be set either per channel or globally for expansive multi-trig mode and running complex simultaneous A4 Track Sounds. All of these settings can be saved and recalled with lots of room for different patch setups.

I use the Novation X-Station to control my Monomachine, which I think is similar to the Remote SL. Easy to map and all those knobs give you tons of control. The one limitation (and I’ve not sure what controllers exist that overcome this) is that the joystick only controls one direction on the Y axis, while the Elektron boxes have control options for both directions. It’s a minor quibble, however.

Thank you, sounds promising. Someone on a different forum mentions to me that the Blofeld keyboard also makes an excellent controller keyboard for the A4, featuring AT, MW, Breath etc. settings if wanted.

I like the Roland A-500s. The keys feel great, and the pitch bend/modulation stick is similar to a joystick. The newer ones can’t run on 4 AA batteries like this model does.

oops. Roland A-500s only has 49 keys…
