Iám interested in to know where you source your samples if you produce Techno with Live or Octatrack.
Or do you use only HW-Equipment for that, but no samples?

Good hint, Thank you
I create my own samples from my modulars and synths to use or create from software plugins that I record to Ableton and export the audio files to use on Octatrack. I also use clips from anime and films and then resample to my SP 404 MK2 or mash up on the Octatrack. Infinite ideas and options.
YouTube, video games, movies, sample library packs, my own previous jams, free packs that people put out, vocal acapellas, field recordings. The great thing about sampling is that the world is your oyster. The world is out there for you to sample. Go hit ten objects with a spoon and use your phone to record it. Guarantee that will be a pretty interesting starting point.
Depending on the type of techno you want to make - harder or deeper or both -
I like Unity Samples and Raw Loops
This guys makes some really good hard techno
For anything that I cannot make with my gear, software, or skill set, then Youtube is the source. Things like speeches, adlibs, incidental sounds, etc. Otherwise, if I can make it and not be dependent on someone else, then
Eurorack modular, software synths, and sometimes I just carry a portable recorder and hit things. A variety of drum sticks and mallets helps. From nylon tip to a soft beater. Then start messing things up with a bunch of effects.
Loopcloud
Bandcamp, sometimes the artists or labels I follow release sample packs
I always use the same drum sample hits, less choice, but i layer them differently. I also do a lot of fm drum sounds with vital.
Samples From Mars. Seriously good if you want to load up on one-shots. Their classic Roland XxX drum machine samples are excellent, recorded through esoteric valve gear to tape etc etc. Look out for the bundle deals.
I roll my own, I sample synths, drum machines etc thru fx and whatnot.
Sometimes I do weird samples like using coil pickups and capture noises from motors, electronic appliances, sometimes I use field recordings, sometimes I sample light patterns from man made or natural things using a light to sound gadget.
I love sampling.
