What's your TECHNO setup

I’m finding the Polyend Tracker is filling the techno sequence roll very nicely. I’m actually only using two or three internal tracks for samples/drums. The rest are going out to external synths now. Not actually how I envisioned using it, but it’s such a smooth process controlling other things with it.

Just choose Thru Machine on an audio track, select the appropriate input (A, B, C or D), set amp hold long enough (e.g. 16 on a 16 step pattern), put one trig on step 1 to trig the Thru Machine, choose filter in an fx slot.

Midi trigs are on the midi track to sequence the 0-Coast, the Thru Machine is just processing audio coming from 0-Coast.

I have gotten that far, but what I was trying to do is link the filter envelope on the thru track to the notes on the midi track (maybe midi loopback?). Paging back and forth all the time to copy and paste trigs was not working and it wasn’t fun to do while the sequence is running. I kind of gave up though and dug out the moogerfooger lowpass filter. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: It has an envelope follower and allow can receive CV from the 0-Coast, I haven’t plugged everything together yet, but I think it should work better for jamming.

Ah, sry, the midi trigs part got me confused^^
Unfortunately copy/paste does not work between midi and audio tracks, you’ll have to manually put trigs on the audio track on the same steps as the midi trigs if you want to open the filter with the env.

Breaking out the moogerfooger was a much better idea for techno. I didn’t end up with anything resembling acid, but the Moog filter is so fun to tweek and still works for techno.

At this very moment it’s really simple but mega fun!

Will add the M:S for Drums, the Virus TI and Hydrasynth for some more Sonic Fun as soon as I am confident with the OT and maybe get myself a Faderfox later.

This week I added a couple more things to my setup. I’ll post real pictures soon after Iv’e racked a few things but here’s what’s in my Techno setup.
I think this is enough to make nice jams in 2021

Considering what Surgeon makes with his setup, you should be ready for world domination!

Yes but Surgeon, give him a banana and he will make you a fantastic techno track.

His approach really makes sense, at least in a live context.
Less really is more when it comes to techno.

Been quashing polyend gas for some time . Easy enough sequence other gear with it?

Update of mine for now.
Love how a simple light can make the place more enjoyable

Actually, I’m controlling external gear more than using its internal sampling and synthesis at the moment. It’s probably the easiest MIDI sequencer around. (Though it does have its limitations of course.)

He also put out two 12" ep (Raw Trax 1&2) recorded live with just a 909 and a Portabella (albeit a 6000€ synth, but still). No DAW in sight ! This was last year, not in the 90’s. Really like that approach and both 12" are great. Mike Parker also records all of his stuff in one takes in stereo.

I’m relatively new to “proper” techno music, but I definitely gravitate more towards the stuff that’s recorded live in one take, it’s been the biggest influence on my music making in the last couple of years.

Really hadn’t considered this as a sequencer , was more tweaked on it originally as a groove box but could see this in my techno jam corner instead of the Squid I’d been looking at

Then you can bask in the glory of these

Techno with a capital T as it says on the back of the Dispatches 3xlp.
