The VCS3 (and Synthi) is one of the easiest synths to maintain, modify, and repair for this reason. Mind you, it also has the disadvantage shared by all such arrangements: erratic behavior if those sockets or traces get dirty or oxidized. That said, mine has been around for a half-century and still works.

Do you run a little dehumidifier in your studio? Seasonally I mean. You have a lot of gear which is notoriously climate aware.

Yes, during the spring and summer, there’s always a dehumidifier going. In the winter, it’s pretty dry (but just about right in the basement).

Hey Scot, why are there two Arp 36XX keyboards in your studio?? J/k, I’m just envious… Hope you’re getting along well with your new Polymoog. Play ā€œIt’s more fun to computeā€ for us, please

Edit: look at the size of those traces on the original VCS3 board :open_mouth: 25 years ago I had an Mk1 VCS3 on loan for a few weeks. That synth is really something else, in so many ways.

You have a keen eye! Those keyboards are connected to a 2600MkIII and a Korg 2600 FS. :exploding_head:

Well I picked up a Meris Polymoon.

A little underwhelmed so far, but that’s probably my own fault.

I was planning to use it for dubby delays but it seems as it gets more ā€˜ambient’ it smears the delays.

Appears to be more of a reverb+ that a delay+ at the minute. Though it could be that my sausage fingers haven’t tweaked it in a suitably subtle manner just yet.

Will spend a bit more time with it and hopefully I’ll grow a little more whelmed. But at the minute I think I may end up grabbing a space echo type pedal instead and letting this go, or even keeping it around for reverb duties.

Anyone using this successfully in a delay type way?

Nice! I was just reading about that card the other day!

Just upgraded to V collection X from version 5.

21 new instruments for 99 euros seemed like a pretty decent deal

Intentions are being content having lots of classic sounds on deck and trying the CS80 V4 (and other MPE compatible plugins) with Push 3.

Intentions: deep dive and perform

Intentions: Give my DT2 a sibling and have a drink to react to current political clusterfucks before European retaliatory tariffs destroy the value proposition of Elijah Craig

Cheers and see you over at the intoxicated thread!

Been lusting for this one for years and a great local deal came up for a nearly mint version :slightly_smiling_face:. I’ll be searching for my inner Vince Clarke as a start (then hopefully move to Alan Wilder and Chemical brothers areas as well).

Pair it with the A4 and you have a infinite world of sounds at your disposal

Congratulations!

That Elijah Craig gave me images or Frodo played like James Bond, and James Bond played like Frodo.

My latest purchase is a Presonus Quantum HD2 interface to give me just a little bit more i/o that I was missing on my previous Audient interface.

As a bonus it comes with a perpetual licence to Studio One Pro and a years subscription to their One+ thing, which seems to mostly be access to some fancier plugins, more loop content, and their notation software.

Still trying to find a European sipper I like as much as Elijah Craig…

How are you with single malts? A personal favorite of mine is Clynelish 14. Subtle, but awesome. Generally, I’m more into single malts, but in terms of bourbon Elijah Craig is great value if you can pick it up for around 30€ (like I just did).

Yeah you just have to keep dimension at zero to get some tasty delays
Its not really a ā€œdubā€ delay box - too clean 4 that. But i love mine . Very unique. Needs a bit of time to get used to.
Try experimenting with a sinole vocal phrase… easier to work out what’s actually going on (i find)
But i wouldnt sell mine
And dont overdrive input it doubds horrible… another reason its nit really a ā€œdubā€ delay which are usually warmer/ fuzzier

I used to live in NYC, where I could get Elijah Craig for around $25, and a good mixing bourbon for $12. Here in Lisbon, EC is out of stock at the biggest retailer, but it was €52 when last offered. I went through a single malt phase starting about thirty years ago, but it all got too expensive. Aldi had some decent own-label offerings, but they’re hard to find even in the UK, and impossible outside it, it seems. The best luck I’ve had recently has been with aged rums, but I have to buy those in Spain.

Yeah, 52€ sounds way too much for Elijah Craig. Anything close to the 25$ you used to pay sounds impossible in Europe (though, I’m of course only aware of pricing in Germany). Here in Germany you can get little worthwhile Whisk(e)y below 30€, I’d say (sometimes Talisker 10, which is a classic, and I love it, but often I crave something a bit further from the mainstream). Don’t know about Portuguese prices, but in Germany you can get great single malts between 30 and 40€, especially if you wait for sales (Amazon can be quite good for that, as much as I dislike the company). Apart from the Clynelish 14, that I already mentioned (quite subtle, my main tasting note would be honey), I’d also whole-heartedly would recommend Craigellachie 13 (non-peated, but with awesome funky notes) or Kilchoman Sanaig (that one might be hard to get at or below 40€, but it is great, a peated Islay whisky that has been aged for a while in a sherry cask), or for an interesting peat-forward one Ledaig 10 (might also be difficult below 40 now, I always thought it tasted a bit like bacon, really have to pick up another bottle some time).
