What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 2)

I expected that you would expect that.

Now it’s time to make music instead of gather gear.

:fist:for now.

Well, I do still make music

It’s just that most of it is composed on the Syntakt before I go to sleep at night.

The studio is more for wallowing in mental health. or odd psychoses. Whichever.

That‘s exploring while explaining (it to my future self, because I tend to forget how to use certain equipment). Probably boring. Recorded via the speakers. Running on batteries. Essentially using on device tone editing (some solid/lately bass vibes) and recording incl. auto features and custom drum tracks (no quantisation, no sequencing, no editing). Example: built in reggae style. Fingers played short bass sequences of electronic classics occasionally

Oh man, I used to have the PSS-780 with the multi coloured drum pads. Crazy to think that this was back in 1990 and that 34 years have passed since then :grimacing::sweat_smile::joy:

I purchased a good condition nord rack 2x
I sold one in pristine condition and regretted it - this one is good… enough

Unfortunately I turned on my digitakt and a few buttons aren’t showing the correct colours anymore ( they’re wrong in test mode too ) … pressing some of the steps changes colours of other ones … it’s all a bit wrong.

And the orange button cap has become a sticky piece of bullshit.
I guess that’ll teach me for not using it for a while.

Sorry to hear that. How’s the humidity where you are?

I’m in the uk and my gear is in my living room.
I’ll update firmware but I doubt it’ll change anything . The caps come off so maybe I can grab one from elektron. … it’s an old digitakt , I had it within six months of release.

Yeah, your humidity is probably roughly the same as mine in Seattle. I haven’t seen any of these issues on my Elektrons, but I’ve always been curious about what’s causing it for people.

After a nice little run building and studying guitar pedals (to play with guitar and synth), I’ve got some parts, breadboards, and protoboard to try out building a few utility module circuits to play with my semi-modular setup.

Pictured, the Moritz Klein wavefolder circuit, have eyes on a S/H + noise, Sloth chaos circuit, VCAs, MS-20 filter, maybe an Arduino- or Daisy-powered module…

[Also pictured, @Juniper_Steels’s Atlas Compressor, which has been a great little box in my the Nymphes’ signal chain.]

Bloody marvelous!! Keep going!

Thanks! And I appreciate you posting (and somewhere here mentioning) your schematics, I’ve learned a thing or two from a few times looking around in them.

These two came here simultaneously. The purchase of book was inspired by fellow Elektronaut - @RhythmDroid

One is about delays. The other - contrary.

The delay will be plugged for a moment as an insert from Digitone to Syntakt, it will serve multiple sources, because at later stage I will plug Modal 001 to Digitone for its chorus, and then it might also benefit that BIM in mentioned configuration. Later and finally, when I finish my second studio setup, that BIM will go as an insert for Modal 008, to give some reflections for chords with voices hard panned left and right. I am very curious how it will sound with that 3% offset, when first hit of chord is all notes on time, but then consecutive reflections start to spread apart in time and being cross fed to delay lines. Can’t wait to try that! I was also thinking about grabbing Meraki or LVX, with LVX most compelling, with possibility of recreating Polymoon, with each channel very configurable and having more control than BIM in terms of delayed notes, but in the end I learned that I compensate my poor skills with out of the box good character, and Modal 008 has rather thinner sound (Jexus commented on oscillators that they sound like Nord Lead 3, and I kind of subscribe to that sentiment) benefitting from character box. So BIM it was and will be for me.

Cordially,
Norman

sample turning pages of the book and feed the output into the OTO

That is a way to metaphorically delay a Shinkansen. But then… I don’t want to be banned from entering Japan.

…aaand I bought it again :see_no_evil:

My intentions are to see if my sound creation skills have improved since last I owned it. Otherwise, I might sell it again :frog:
