What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 1)

Good choice! Scales is awesome (I also use it mainly with my 0-ctrl). The interface looks a bit confusing at first but it’s actually really well designed IMO.

I LOVE Scales. Such a great straightforward quantizer.

I’m still filling out my “utility modules for my semimodular synths” rack. Managed to pick up a used Pamela’s New Workout in great condition. Intention: clock all of the things and send tempo based LFOs everythwere

Dropped my OP-1 and broke the official TE Crank accessory.

Bought a replacement crank from Etsy because I don’t have a 3D printer. Unfortunately, the replacement crank is too tight. The cap of the knob is now permanently stuck inside the crank.

Intention: Continue using the crank but switch knobs as I move the crank around.

I wanted to get a carry case for my pristine MPC Live II Retro. I didn’t want the Magma one as it had had some bad reviews and I didn’t really want a decksaver either as it tended to wear the paint off the corners of my previous Live.

Did some research and ended up getting the UDG digi backpack as it accomodates my MPC, a laptop, all the wires, headphones and a bunch of toothbrushes, socks and underwear on top of that. It’s also unbelievably sexy with the black exterior/orange interior. It has around 10 different compartments with one of them even being detachable. Very well thought out and designed piece of luggage.

A finnish music shop had these on summer sale with 30€ off the normal price so I had to get it. As I was thinking of buying something else to save on postage I ended up buying a Mackie mini-PA system for my bookshop to have gigs and happenings.

Now I’m picturing you playing your rig in socks and underwear while brushing your teeth

After being 2 years or so using “HiFi” speakers i bought the Focal Alpha 50 EVO to start mixing seriously.

They changed my life, and my music a lot. It feels like it’s the first time i’m really listening my songs and music in general.

Without mentioning how good it is to turn on the speakers and they are quieter than my tinnitus, no hiss at all.

I bought a pair of these Freeplay Lives. They were in the same Summer Sale too, so they were cheapish and I guess they provide enough power for a 100 square meters of space that my shop is. Mostly they’re ment for a one man band playing guitar and singing. I already have a separate Fender guitar amp there.

The added bonus is that they work with internal batteries for 15 hours so whenever I feel like having a small festival at our summer cabin, I can do it. They had the carry cases on sale too so I bought a pair of those.

Replaced my keystep pro for the keystep 37
Less sequencers, but so much more fun for playing with the chord and strum modes. Upgrade in my book, as I can’t churn out chords fast, and think it will be a great addition for live performances

I have the old Focal Alpha 50s, great little monitors. If they die I’ll probably get some more Focals (maybe upgrade to the Shape 65s)

My first MPC. I like being able to rename the tracks, midi inputs etc… makes it very easy to keep track of things. The program change section makes it really easy to switch patches on the Jupiter X which has thousands of presets.

Link for completeness. Total rawness, especially track 7 onwards. I love demos vs polished tracks…

I canceled the deal, hot glued PSU chord is too much a risk to spend 100 euros on.

Only?? I thought the normal rate for these things is around 30 or 40 (thats what I payed for mine). If so, I might think about reselling, even though I love the little bugger.

Depends, I guess that might be in the UK or the states with a lot of them around, but Reverb prices seem to be over 100€ right now and I haven’t seen many available locally.

Ordering one from the UK or the States would mean postage, VAT and toll payments.

I did however just learn that the seller has hot glued to PSU chord into the unit, which sounds kind of risky. I might pass because of this. It’s always something with these old units. Thankfully I got lucky with the Quadraberb, it’s in a really good shape.

I have one of these as well - been very happy with it. Hope you enjoy them!
