Figured Walnut pieces.
To use my now improved wood working skills to make my 3rd and final MIDIBox seq V4 case.
Beautiful!
Not so much a purchaseā¦ Just the cost of transport, to finally move the piano I played as a youth to my current home! I havenāt had a real piano to play at home for 17 years, so this is super cool for me. I spent this afternoon working on some mic positions:
Intention is to record with it, generally enjoy having a real piano sound and feel, play with my best friend, and maybe, just maybe, Iāll finally learn the Waldstein Sonataā¦!
Zoia! Only just plugged it in, but I think it will be a fine addition. Hopefully this can be my first and only pedal. This seemed like the best way to get a programmable multi-fx unit without having to program my own modules with Max or Pure Data, with which Iāve never gotten very far. Iām excited to use it with the OT and start diving into patching with it.
Is this a new synth!?
Nice! 1/2 considering a real piano too some day. Our original house plans have a spot specifically for a grand piano in them. After the house Iām not sure I can afford one though
Thatās a really beautiful piano! Congrats!
are you using a label maker for the patch bay labels or just an Excel format thing and printing out on sticky paper? my diy sticky labels suck. iāve no label maker but perhaps i should just get one already and fix my janky shit.
cyclebox is one of my favorite things in modular. itās so full of surprises. with such small turn of the knob and flip of one of the switches itās a totally new sound. also, makes really grat percussive sounds and snares and stuff. the main out on mine has a dodgy jack but the phaseshifted out is fine. i need to replace the jack but have been lazy
Hopefully I do this beautiful dead tree justice!
Haha! That made me chuckle It would make a great synth name! Fingers crossed you can get a piano in your place
Label maker
Then I just buy the cheapest knockoff labels I can find in a rainbow assortment.
Thanks! I played it a lot as a teen and it holds plenty of memories for me. I desperately want to get it tuned and play with the felt / voicing a little bit, but it only arrived yesterday, so it needs to settle for a week! Iām really psyched to have it here
Pretty cool that your family has had such a beautiful instrument. The piano I played growing up wasnāt a very good one. Still, fortunate to have had a real piano to compose some of my first āsongsā with. Bought a new Kawai piano myself this summer and while it was expensive, itās an instrument for life.
Indeed, I was lucky, my family managed to buy it when I was 13 and studying for my grade 8. Itās a Welmar - the action is on the heavier side, quite a thick / dark sound, plenty of power when you need it.
Iāve played some lovely Kawai uprights over the years, glad to hear youāre enjoying yours! Do you record with it?
One of my old favorites! Havenāt had Euro in years, but I loved the Cycleboxes that I had. Some really nice waveforms available.
Only getting started with recording it, mostly used it for tape loops and songwriting so far. Getting it tuned next week for what I hope will turn into an albumās worth of music. Itās also got midi and the option to play it as a digital piano, which is key since I only get to actually play it when the kids are asleep.
Itās amazing isnāt it, Iāve wanted one for ages and finally a UK sale came up. I think I might need an oscilloscope though!! The cyclonix videos are quite helpful
Iām loving the white! Having midi etc. built in is nuts, thatās a really useful tool. What kind of stuff are you hoping to record for the album?
Thereās a MKII thatās been in Analogue Havenās used section for years.

Never had one, Shapeshifter, Megawave, Piston Honda went well with the Synchrodyne.
