What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 1)

Love this gear pron thread. It explains GAS very well.

You buy gear you never thought you would need from money you don’t have to show it to others because you have to share your pain or maybe want to impress them!

Good to know that I am not alone :)!!

I must be in the wrong thread - I’ve always known that I need the gear. All of it.

Lol, I’m not sure if that was aimed in my general, but I have 1 FM Synth, 1 analog mono, 1 mono sampler and 1 stereo sample and now, a mixer and plenty of money, cheers. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll be sure to pretend I haven’t purchased anything in the future, in case someone gets a bit upset about what strangers are doing on the internet…

I post here and assume most do to display my excitement with getting something new or feel like an accomplishment. I’d guess this thread has so much action because new gear is awesome, sometimes it’s not music related and that’s just as cool. Whatever it is I’m happy to see others happy.

I just imagine you all as fat mid 40 year old men, that look your age, sitting in your y-fronts, smoking lambert and buttlers and badly made weak tea, I certainly do not care about impressing that mental image, sharing passion though, yep.

Way off the mark…I make a banging cup of tea.

and what about the setup to get it up and running with the Blackbox.
Seen it running with 16 pads controlling pads and the other 16 for the sequewnces.
Was that difficult to do if thats how youve got it setup too?

Had my eye on this.

very straightforward - i took the circuitpython approach; so coding is simply a loop to assign startup colours, what midi signals a button sends when pressed, if its colour changes when you hold it and if it changes after you release.

you could get a lot more complicated if you wanted to

… and with circuitpython this means simply connect the trellis to your pc by usb, it appears as a drive, you open a code file, edit, save it, and the board immediately adopts the new code.

You don’t see me as a fit 43 year old with a smoking hot wife sitting in front of synths that I bought or built, only when I’m not out driving my Carrera or playing with my beautiful kids after making the best pot of Pu Erh you’ve ever tasted in your life?

That hurts!!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Also, I smoke fine cigars. So there.

Unfortunately, my wife isn’t as into the synths as I am… price of being a nerd I guess.

Ok the car might be an indicator of mid-life

Edit: Sorry, that was a bit of a crass response to the post. Not sure why it even provoked the response I provided other than a short burst of self-reflection. After which I was happy with the results. anyway, proceed…

It was a joke, don’t worry. Definitely no need to apologize, because the exact sort of response I wanted to type when I saw the other post…

You’ve proved the point I was making in my reply to the other post, we’re not all plebs scraping by.

got grayscale permutation. instant techno <3

Sub mix is great. I have sub mix going to a Coleman LS3, which lets me push a button to route to 1-3 different outputs. I have mine going to monitor speakers and the sample on the Synthstrom Deluge. The Model 12 is such an intuitive and functional tool.

Akai Force arrived today.

Also order a Presonus Faderport 8, for use with Studio One.

I’m happy to see more and more people using Studio One lately. It’s such an underrated DAW, imo.

To be honest i wasn’t looking to use Studio One.

I’d recently started (reluctantly) looking into using a DAW for recording my tracks. Maybe some basic multi-tracking and additional fx processing, but not to create full blown tracks. I demoed most of the usual suspects. Quite liked Cubase and Protools, hated Logic.

But then i ended up buying a Quantum 2626 & got a free version of Studio One Artist. So i came to it by chance but i’m in now & that’s where i’ll stay.

Still got some hardware for my main track creations, but super excited to see what can be done with this small hybrid setup.
