What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 1)

Why did you cancel the preorder of the Polybrute, if I may ask?

The same here…

HOOOOO looking VERY crisp!!!

Nice moods :+1:t2:

I should have just bought strips rather than making everything from scratch like I always have to do for some reason.

Though I like that mine are all “smart” without paying ridiculous prices because of it.

I had been on the fence between the two, and after polling the forum, it became clear to me that I was letting GAS get the better of me. I still think the PB looks and sounds (from the videos) great, but I was able to get a great deal on a new Summit and I didn’t have to wait months for the PB to ship!

That said, I’ll be very interested in hearing about the PB once people start getting their hands on them…

Tascam 464. Intentions are to run complete tracks through it to get some dirt / grit from cassette. Cleaned it up quite a bit, so it actually looks a bit nicer than this photo. Needs repairs currently, so I’ll attempt myself once the replacement parts arrive (gear c and capstan belt)

I think I’d be more interested in running a few individual tracks through it and then mixing those back with the main track. Just my preference if I had one.

Tape cassettes sound horrible if I remember correctly (maybe it was just crappy music, I dunno, old memories are foggy).

Depends on what sound you’re after I suppose.

Definitely not opposed to doing that also. Need to gain my footing to learn the system and then maybe switch it up. Could be nice for some specific projects to multitrack and mix afterwards. I’ll get into some experiments, for sure. Gotta fix it first, ugh…

Thanks for this! I had completely forgotten that I can buy narrower label tape for my maker! Now I can do the same!

The one behind the desk and some bulbs in a lamp are lifx that were expensive, I got a couple other strips that are just cheap ones that turn on by a switch and use batteries…
the good ones are way overpriced!.

That “Let´s make some music” is perfect sample material. :joy:

Whaat? Tape cassettes sound lovely. Portastudios have really nice sounding EQs that help getting all the sweet hiss and textures boosted and I like the way it saturates and compresses the sound when fed loud signals.

Soooo many memories…! I co owned one of these with a guy who owned a cat…one day it stopped playing so I bought some new belts and opened her up…she worked fine after I removed a fist full of cat hair that was strangling the motor…:joy_cat:

Over driving the pre amp on drums always sounded fantastic, and the ability to wrench the pitch rapidly with the variable switch made for some fun…

I bought a 4 track Yamaha mtx with the same intentions but it just isn’t the same…have fun

If there is one thing I don’t like in the AR is the choke group.

You need to think how to sequence those pads to avoid click

I think 1 choke group would have been sufficient
