Just curious to what really hit the spot with one of these machines. Can go back to Sidstation if you want. Lets see and hear these forgotten gems.
Let’s start with an obvious one
Cos when I first heard it I didn’t know how an md worked, so when the double bass hit I couldn’t work out what was happening, sounded so fresh. Still not 100% sure if programmed song or live pattern wrangling.
I’m partial to this one
I think this song was even featured in some web-show!
Really cool one this one!
So hard to choose. Substan probably comes to mind first when I think of who gets the most out of a single Elektron device… this one is sparse but gorgeous:
But so many others… @ylva, @Jeanne, @philroyjenkins, @blushresponse, @JonMakesBeats, @OscillatorSink, @NostalgicRuckus etc
Nothing. I just heard the MD and MnM demos when they came out, my imagination went wild (“ooh, I’m gonna this things and that thing… ooh and I can’t do this and that too, ooh!”), and got them… That said, just barely knowing that Broadcast used a Sidstation made the decision a bit easier.
This Analog Keys jam has stuck in my mind over the years (and totally blew my mind about synthesis with filter pings, noise, etc.)
Techno with no oscillators, brilliant stuff.
That one blows my mind too. I didn’t know the Analog 4 could sound like that, it’s very tasty.
And he explains the patching in the comments —he’s worked out how to fine-tune the A4 settings to make different timbres generated by the old ping-the-filter-with-noise trick.
Thanks for the link.
