Hmm that is a SSM filter, not sure if I noticed an Oberheimy tone from it. Programming wise, that definitely fits the bill, the filter seems very different though.
“Filter 3 is a classic 2-pole, state-variable design based on the OB-6 filter that can be continuously varied between low-pass, notch, and high-pass operation, with an optional band-pass mode.”
Oh yeah that is an option, but I was only looking for small modules, I shouldve clarified. There seems to be a space issue in my studio with 20+ synths
Do you know if there is full midi on the envelope/ filter/ res on the SEMBLANCE?
Most of those modules have a very limited note midi recognition only. I almost bought the Polivoks desktop until reading it was only note input midi only.
I was trying to control the envelope via Midishaper plugin so I don’t have to touch it, unless there was built in presets, that would be even better.
On the semblance you can only route one MIDI CC to filter cutoff. You may be able to modify it (or get a Telemark, which is a semimodular version of the Semblance), add some extra CV inputs and control them via MIDI /CV converters.
If you’re looking for a real alternative with full MIDI, there is only the Studio Electronics ATC-Xi (or the SE-3X) with a SEM filter. But the filter is only one part of many to get that sound. Not to mention, that these are more expensive than a 2nd hand OB-6 module.
Im actually not a modular player, never can stand the spaghetti wires! I’m beginning to think I should start putting money into a piggy bank for the OB6
If you can do with a modern interpretation of the analogue SEM, you could check out Fusebox by Analogue Solutions. I’ve got the MK I and it’s a great Oberheim’ish sound machine. I can tell, because I have SEMs in the Two Voice Pro as well.
If a plugin is acceptable there are pretty good emulation from:
As an OB6 (desktop) owner, I can say that I haven’t considered any other synths since my purchase. With the Arturia VSTs and the OB6 I barely touch my other gear. Wild!
