What's next for Elektron? (Part 2)

For E. future next 15 years, the First new unit have to be a new OT3 or whatever the multiMix/Sampler ''s name would sound.
One unit to control them all :alien: and binds them with overbridge into DAW. And please let it be no :green_apple: solution, but a new real unit.

Saw on insta just now theyre hiring a hardware engineer:

https://www.elektron.se/careers/hardware-design-engineer

A dream job for someone, I’m sure!

Listing mentions analog and digital design, TONRYTM 8 confirmed.

You think? Large numbers of people turn out for Hatsune Miko concerts, apparently content to watch a live band provide backing music for an animated hologram. There was a 40 minute HM set at Coachella last year.

On the plus side Japan has quite creator-friendly laws about trademark protection (parody of famous bands is allowed unlike in the US) so you can enjoy non-AI underground vocaloid tracks like this one

…off topic related…well, if u got tickets to watch hologram elvis, beatles or abba, that’s one thing, u might wanna enjoy once or twice in ur life…then u’ve seen it…
while live music performances alongside to something happening on big display of any kind, was already a classic, long before ai was the latest hot shit of the day…
in fact, it dates aaaalll the way back to a single piano and a silent movie projection…that’s pretty much a full circle story, right there…

Never thought to see that video linked on Elektronauts. I don’t know if I should feel happy or ashamed that I knew what it was within an instant of clicking the link :grimacing:

My only thing is to say that not all Vocalo is that way, there are some pretty awesome music producers who come up from that subculture

I will find somewhere better to post about this

This micro genre has inexplicably become my favorite thing, but I am open to other recommendations

Maybe Elektron should get out of hardware / firmware and focus on what they’re really known for - $10 sample packs

While Elektronauts continue doing what they do best - whinging about lack of updates while their gear collects dust

I have 3 dogs. My gear collects dust no matter how much or how little I use it.

Well, for 3 easy payments of 9,99$ you can get my dog duster.

Sorry, I don’t know why I get so triggered from ā€˜lack of update’ posts, haha. It’s probably a me problem

Now that DT2 has manual slicing, my need for OT has diminished further. I still love it for live resampling/mangling but mostly use as a performance mixer with looping.

IMO elektron could leave heavier sample duties to DT2 and create a spiritual successor to OT that focuses on the looping/performance mixer side.

Just make sure to give us an xfader

My bets are on a Analog Rytm Mk3 or Octatrack Mk3, both are due for a refresh!
