What's next for Elektron? (Part 1)

It’s possibly built on the older software/hardware platform and more difficult to change. Cuckoo has claimed that the digitakt 2 is the first to be built on the newer platform.

Seems strange that Elektron announced that new machines would come for Syntakt and now it is no longer possible…

Who is Cuckoo?? A software engineer?

he’s a bird

A youtuber, search for “True Cuckoo”. I honestly don’t know what his assertion is based on, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he knows something we don’t. In addition, Elektron are known to have been recruiting developers for a relatively new programming language, Rust.

This is why I hate social media, youtube, instagram etc there is so much wrong info in there and there are so many people pretending to be master in engineering, in software, technology, in coding but maybe they have never studied engineering or coding.

I stopped using socials for this reason.

Going back to Elektron I am a firmly believer they will issue new machines for Syntakt - their priority has been of course Digitakt II.

I don’t think Cuckoo is pretending any such thing. For context, this is what was said. Entirely up to you what you make of it.

Thankfully, all of the info here is always spot on and informed.

Right, of course

Nobody has said this.

Coming in 2022, Syntakt may be the youngest of the three but it’s jam-packed with possibilities and loaded with powerful sound-exploring tools. Analog and Digital synthesis. Drum and melody. They’re here in full fusion. Syntakt’s various percussive and melodic machines make for an adventurous playground, and even though it’s only been out a little over a year, more machines have already arrived. And more will follow.

I’m not following, how is this saying it’s no longer possible.

wrt “nobody has said it won’t happen” - i am very sure it will happen too - but almost every update of any note appears to take longer and longer now there’s more products to support - it takes patience to be an Elektron follower and i think this topic is really reserved for predicting newer developments - there are probably threads on syntakt to mention this on, not that i think that helps anybody, nor hasten anything

They’ll come good on their word, just be patient

I know we’re all waiting for the ‘next dopamine hit that’ll make me a superstar for real this time’ , but all this Tontalk has made me rediscover the Digitone and frankly: It’s a perfect synth. It’s a little FM box of wonders that keeps on inspiring and that’s all I really can ask for. I would be perfectly happy if it never gets updated again, and I don’t really care for a V2 either.

Wait till you see DN II, you’ll hurry up to delete your post but now it’s too late since I’ve quoted it.

Just copy & paste, don’t know why it take so long…

I’ll even re-quote it to show I’m really not bothered.

edit: I’ll also tell you why. They’d have to really go all out (like multi-engine digital synth) to peek my interest and at that point it probably won’t be a DN anymore. (and I think it would take away from the essence of the DN) We’d probably be in Tonverk (speculative of course) territory then

A couple of extra tracks, an euclidian sequencer and a few more lfos won’t cut it.

With DN and A4 I have a Stockholm, (or should I say Gothenburg?), syndrome:

I like the fact they have 4 tracks, it’s fun to craft each track and the risk of overdoing or having unnecessary dense patterns is reduced. Also linear drums have their own charm.

Thinking about the 16 unlabeled tracks of DT2 kind of make me dizzy.

Yeah… more is more…. But less is more also.

I have a similar thing with the 12 Syntakt tracks. It’s awesome, but I had to come up with a system and an overbridge DAW template so certain tracks are always certain things.

I like Cuckoo, but … I don’t feel him affiliated to anything Elektron related.

Ok, the DT2 add a new ASIC added to the legacy coldfire used from decade.
End of story. After that it’s speculation repeating in a loop.
