Howdy folks! Hope everyone is healthy and getting by with the state the world is in right now.
Since being in Quarantine I’ve be re-exploring video games as a means to pass time, and I figured why not ask what everyone else is playing? Recommendations more than welcome as well!
To start, I’ve played two phenomenal games this week:
I just recently finished playing Control (super trippy game with beautiful aesthetics inspired by the SCP Foundation writings) and Beyond: Two Souls (a gripping interactive movie-style game made by the same folks who made Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human.)
I love anything sc-fi/psychological and these hit the nail right on the head. Control has definitely landed in my top 5 games at this point.
I’m not a big gamer by any means. But I do have a PS3 (used mainly for blu-ray and Netflix). I buy all the well-reviewed games for cheap years after release. Works for me. Been playing Last of Us. Might play Skyrim or Deadspace after that. I’m sure those are old news to most of you!
Yeah - I also just started playing Control via NVidiaGeforce Now and Epic Games - all streamed over the internet. Love it - Control AWEsome - beautiful graphics, sound design and narrative.
Currently doing a hardcore run on Resident Evil 3 so I can do Nightmare and Inferno mode later today or tomorrow. Been playing it the death as I am a huge RE fan from way back.
Probably gonna buy Final Fantasy 7 remake this week too.
I’ve got control, I actually only got a few hours into the game, I got into a gun fight and I kept getting head shotted and rage quit haha. Usually that just means i have to take a step back. It’s such a great concept, it really sucks you in to it’s world. The Oldest house is amazing.
one game i didn’t get around too that I really wanted to was that Horizon game.
-im a fan of that studio, loved Killzone, even had it on the Vita.
did they also make that errr cant think of the name but it had numbers in it also, like 1802 or something idk, but I really enjoyed even though it was badly reviewed for being a short play through.
I’ve been loving the look of the RE and FF remakes, Very alluring. I never really got to play much of either of the originals cause my older brother always jogged the console. I think now might be the time to jump in!
And yeah, Control can be downright infuriating sometimes because it’s a genuinely difficult game with no mode settings, but it also has such a satisfaction in finally overcoming the obstacle ahead. I had to stop thinking of it as other platformer/shooters and just go with the flow.
Haha Horizon is actually my number 1 game! Control definitely a close second. Aloy (the protagonist) is just such a bad ass and taking down the huge animal like mechs is just pure adrenaline inducing fun!
So far the REmakes have been incredible, off the back of RE 7 which was a brilliant return to form. I grew up on the originals, entire weekends playing 1-3 with my best mate and his older brother. Same with FF 7, that game was huge for me as a kid, I used it as an escape from my shitty family life at the time and it got me through some awful times as a young lad. Pure escapism. I’m not expecting the new one to hit that sort of height but it looks unreal.
I’ll for certain get back on Control and over come it, I love that feeling of finally, after dying 50 times just smashing it. RE 3 on the harder settings is the same, until you figure out what your doing.
I have been playing a stupid amount of Animal Crossing since it came out a few weeks ago. My girlfriend saw me playing the game and bought a Switch Lite for it, so it has been fun trading stuff and talking about our villagers.
I’m also still working through Horizon Zero Dawn, which has been a nice contrast to Animal Crossing. A friend suggested it maybe a few months ago and it is an incredible game, especially for the $13 I spent.
I recently got somewhat into Baba Is You. I struggled with it when I got it last summer, and somehow am now able to actually solve the puzzles. It seems to help playing very late at night when I’m super tired.
Neuromancer
c64version in browser, they have the amiga version to download, but much better sound in c 64.
But im totally lost as always in these games…
I have no console or pc and lost contact completely to games and no idea, but saw that control was done by the guys from the it seems legendary future crew that made the it seems legendary second reality demo in 93. in the the teaser video someone throws a lamp, as a reference to those programming skills…, fascinating…
