What’s the point of Decksavers? Aren’t they unnecessary and expensive?

It’s not what you think it is… this is a tale of woe and regret… from today. :slightly_frowning_face:

Would not have happened with a Decksaver on it.

That’s a deck that needed saving if I ever saw one.

Luckily you might just be able to peel off and stick on a new plastic plate. Looks superficial.

Hit up Elektron for sure, even out of warranty.

Ahh - Once you get going, you wont notice it at all!

Ouch. My condolences.

I have Decksavers for my Elektron boxes, but they’re not always on. After use I let them cool down, and sometimes the covers are off overnight. I should be more careful…

Ooh that sucks ass with a straw!

I have one but only because it was given to me. It comes in handy for temporary protection, but for long term, a nice, soft, non-scratchy, thick towel works best in my opinion. It cheaper, and doesn’t slip as easy as a desksaver.

I stick my octatrack in my bike bag sometimes and go to the country pile for a couple of days. It’s nice to know the encoders and fader aren’t being jiggled by the other stuff in there.

Can’t Complain Must Protect.

That hurts.

Foolishly just threw it into my bag to move from home to the studio, took it out and saw it.

Arrrrghhhh -_- How does it look below the protective film?

i had them and sold them now i have a plastic sheet but I don’t gig so not a lot of heavy usage

It’s workable… I’m just annoyed that it’s happened now. Complacency.

Oh! I emphasize.

I have decksavers on each piece of gear I own.
My friend @funkylsk prints his, I think they look great and solid. And are very cheap.

I put them back after I’ve played, and I put the groovebox and its decksaver in a tote bag before I put it in Thomann producer bag.
I care for my gear.
Always have, always will.

I’ve actually started buying felt dust covers. The benefit of this is that when I lose my home because of synth addiction I will be able to construct an effective mattress to sleep on.

Decksavers… i got one for everything and they are kinda expensive but they have saved me multiple times. Also nice throwing them on stuff you have on your desk that is being unused and having the ability to stack something else on top in a pinch

I have expensive gear in a nearly 70 year old home that’s in good shape but prone to occasional ceiling leaks and other issues, as well as a toddler that has expensive taste and likes to “beep boop” and play with my “tiny pianos”.

They are expensive, but considering I’m also a stickler for having really pristine gear, it’s just the cost of doing business.

The $40-70 USD I’ve paid for various decksavers, especially compared to the risk and cost of replacement, seems worth it.

I do try and find them used or on discount whenever I can, that helps a little.

Shoot, if they made something similar for rack gear, I’d probably buy that for the couple I have left over…

1/4 cable?

Impact damage, looks like a corner of something which dropped on to it.

For getting your gear to and from the gig in one piece!
