What’s eating Native Instruments?

I’ve got ensembles that will take 90% on my desktop, no chance in hell I could get them running on Maschine. It’s too bad, I seriously looked into it as a hardware platform for my Reaktor stuff and quickly realized it just wouldn’t be feasible, either cpu or interface.

big fckn meh.

I thought I’d heard rumours of a new version. Could be incorrect though.

Yeah, there is a lot of ways of development…
Optimizations for newer cpu’s and OSes. The UI could be refreshed for bigger screens and to use GPU maybe.
Maybe some simplifications for device builders, like macros, shortcuts. Dunno, IO improvements (like CV integrations with eurorack). Further Maschine integration.
Blocks were brilliant, it would be sad if all of these would be abandoned.

Just noticed there are no longer any upgrade price options from previous versions of Komplete showing under the ‘my offers’ part under my account on the NI website

Something is afoot indeed

A but bummed if I can no longer upgrade
But TBF I didn’t see so much must have stuff in last couple of versions

I did manage to see an upgrade price yesterday but I had to login and click the purchase button to see what it actually was when it was in the cart.

I’ll be doing my normal thing of waiting for a deal on the upgrade next year sometime.

I would be kinda shocked if given the consistency of their pricing, that they stop doing crossgrades and upgrades. The whole business model is based on that, and dropping it along with a new subscription is a sure fire way to send their customer base away. I just logged in and I am seeing update prices, but they are full price. The first proper sale should come next summer based on previous… They also have a habit of bundling in some pretty cool premium libraries of late (like Lunaris) so the Neutron offer is a bit pointless. I actually thought that would come standard with Komplete, but I’d prefer 3rd party sample libraries - interested to see if they add any to future offers.

Yeah, the upgrade didn’t appear in the “My Komplete offers” tab in my account but the upgrade pricing is the same as it’s usually been at €199 for standard from K13 when I click in to the entry for Komplete 15. So it doesn’t look like there’s any change to the previous model, maybe just a quirk or glitch on the website.

Probably like a lot of people I’m in no hurry here, I’d probably wait until it goes on sale for a bit less. Ozone 11 is a pretty decent incentive - I’m on version 9 with the Izotope production bundle and had been kicking around updating because it seems like there’s a lot of new stuff there. Seems like a better deal with all the other NI stuff, but it’s a bit confusing how this interacts with Izotope specific update pricing.

I got the Izotope bundle well before the merger but I’m only really interested in updating RX and Ozone, for me the latest version of the bundle is a €329, to confuse things further they’re throwing in Guitar Rig 7 on that side. To confuse things even further, I already have a bunch of Brainworx / Plugin Alliance stuff.

I really wish they’d streamline all of this a bit and bring it all together, rather than throwing bits and pieces across bundles from different companies under the same umbrella. It would also be nice to have a single software manager, the PA one is bad and the Izotope one is a bit dated. I guess all this mergers and acquisitions stuff might explain where NI’s priorities have been in the last couple of years, but like everyone else I really feel like Reaktor and a few others badly need an update.

So no chance of a sale this winter already? Read that they do that somewhere, but perhaps only every other year?

November Black Friday deals maybe

I have heard something about a Black Friday time limited sale (like a week window?) where you might get an email with a BF price to up a version (eg: Ultimate to Collectors.) Not seen that myself but some have mentioned it. And given NI’s propensity to run sales, might they run one anyway? Last year, some products were new and still excluded from the sale in BF, so I would anticipate the same for K15. But if they are going with 2 sales a year in a break with tradition I guess there’s a chance.

Almost all of my Black Friday purchase remain unused, I buy things because they are so cheap…If I really wanted/needed it I would have bought it before Black Friday! This includes most NI Ultimate upgrades!

Didn’t know, that’s exactly what I’m looking for!
Yeah it’s probably a long shot, but it would be nice.

I get that. And it seems like it might not even happen before next summer… Upgrading from standard is 599€ so not sure I can motivate that personally knowing they do the 50% off regularly

Yeh, if you really want it get it in the sale, don’t do what I did and just get it ‘because it was in the sale’ I still havent downloaded half the stuff and probably never will, its too much…for me, quantity over quality. I would take 1/2 as much sample packs and a Reaktor upgrade and pay $$$

Yeah, the ”pure” synth stuff is perhaps not at the top if the game as it perhaps was historically.
I’m more in to their Kontakt/sample based stuff, with Ozone as the icing on the cake

There’s a lot of filler in Komplete for sure, but it still feels worth it to me if I can get a decent deal

I personally avoid Komplete like the plague. Too much stuff I’ll never have the time to learn. I’m totally content between Reaktor, Kontakt, Traktor and Maschine (which includes FM8, Massive, Raum etc these days), no need for Komplete.

I am of the perhaps unpopular opinion that despite this stuff being quite old by now, it still has a lifetime’s worth of things to explore within. Old software doesnt necessarily mean its “outdated”, again its more about using the stuff than about fantasizing about what could be. Quite stable software as well IMHO

Got out of the komplete ultimate paradigm last week and don’t miss it !

Anyone who wants to dump their Maschine+ for cheap or a trade, let me know.
It’s the centerpiece of my upcoming live set and I could use a backup :cowboy_hat_face:

The company name implies they are a “software first” developer. They only have a few hardware pieces in their lineup and I dont expect this to change tbh.
