I think I’ve finally reached the point where I don’t need anymore drums, I used to have thousands of records I’ve got tons of sample packs, and collected samples from anywhere and everywhere, and made my own drum samples but one thing I never got into was plugins like Battery, BFD, Superior Drummer although I always thought toon-tracks very first vintage drum kit had quality sound, addictive drums, or really any plugin of this nature…
Now I’m ready to stop collecting drums and ironically I just came across addictive drums again after a very long time having not kept up with them and I think they feel different than they used to to me, now they feel like there is enough in depth customization while somehow not making me feel like they are over doing it, I feel like they have a very balanced approach and it feels like I’m working with samples which I like.
The last drum plugs I’ve purchased were teletone audios drum plugs, and now I think I’m going to finish it off with addictive drums 2 vintage dead kit…
So is there anything out there that you are particularly into drum-plug-wise that I should check out, one thing I have not been able to find is a good brush kit in plugins everything I’ve come across has been too harsh
love this demo, and the fact that it’s so easy to customize these sounds
The commonly agreed upon best options in no particular order are:
EZDrummer / Superior Drummer
Addictive Drums
Get Good Drums
I personally use AD and supply my own samples for things I have a specific need for. I’ve considered GGD on a few occasions, but haven’t gone for any of their stuff at least as of yet since AD keeps working for me well enough.
Some people also like Steven Slate Drums and Ugritone, but I at least haven’t ever properly checked them out.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with IK Multimedia MODO Drum 2. Everything is pretty tweakable and sounds pretty natural. I’ve been using it to make my own breaks.
I tried to recreate some famous breaks with varying degrees of success. This is the only one where I think I got pretty close.
…on my old machines, i had the whole EZ lineup drum packages running…
then logics drummer got really beyond just good…and i started to abandon that ez collection…
on all my later configs, logic was replaced with the last daw of my life, bitwig…
and one of the rare third party plugins. i stll find useful and a serious addition to what’s there anyways, are cableguys and xln products…
if i ever buy into virtual drumming again, i’ll give addictive drums a try…
so I went ahead and grabbed that AD2 for the little discount of less than 60 bucks and I think the value is ridiculous if you want to sculpt drums, program drums, or trigger drums. and I love the interface
I don’t use the software much, I mostly just sample the kits and walk away. That said, there’s a lot of functionality packed in there. Sounds great too!
Can’t answer for the other software but in EZdrummer 3 you can drop your audio into it and it will populate matching grooves.
I like Ez-drums approach for fills and ghost notes, imo they are ahead in that regard but ad2 lets you get down to the nitty gritty on the individual sounds themselves without making it tedious and boring you to hell
Yeah, I got a really good deal plus a free pack so I bought and installed it, sampled one shots and shut it down! Didn’t play around too much, but seems like a super simple interface.
