hey I’ve been playing with a Syntakt and a M:C for a while and I was wondering, would an external fx add something to the sound?
Like… a compressor or a distortion pedal or whatever…?
Any suggestions? Any ideas?
Also, should I just add the fx to one of the two boxes or just to the final output sounds?
I have no clue on this as I have never done anything like that before…
Thanks for the suggestions!
First of all, depends on what you feel is lacking, and how you’re using them? Full on standalone grooveboxes, more like drum machines or something else? Both side by side, filling different duties? Or separately.
Noen of them have separate outs (not without Overbridge or Outbox at least), so I guess some kind of stereo master effect is what you’re looking for?
I’m not a heavy pedal user (mostly use daw fx for my Syntakt if any), but what I sometimes miss in the ST is a compressor. So maybe a nice stereo compressor pedal? Analog Heat works well both I think.
Maybe you could start by using the ST as an external processor for the MC and see where that gets you. You can mix it with some of the internal sounds for some side chain processing. The ST can act as a phaser, distortion, amp mod, flanger (sort of), extra delay, reverb, stereo analog filter, fake compressor etc. It’s basically an Analog Heat «light», and then some. Maybe that will give you some ideas on what you like?
