What are the chances I just fried the Machinedrum MKII I just bought?

Bought an MD from a friend for a great price. They told me it was an MK1 that was just missing a power supply so I found and ordered a 6V/3A AC power supply for an MK1 and put the MD to the side while I waited on that.

That arrived today and when plugging in and turning the MD on the screen went solid red and all the lights lit and stayed on. I turned it off and back on and that time the screen and lights came on again but then faded. I turned it off again, pulled the power plug out, and it was at that point that I squinted at the text printed on the screen’s border and saw that it is an MKII :frowning:

I’ve opened it up to inspect the boards and I’m not seeing any blown caps or burn marks anywhere and nothing smells burnt.

So, I’ve ordered the correct 6V/3A DC output supply. I know I ultimately won’t know for sure until that arrives, but does anyone have any guesses on my chances that I haven’t toasted it?

I have no clue but I feel your pain. Hope you’ll sort it out. :crossed_fingers:

I won’t guess either, but I’ll cross all my fingers, toes, fins and flippers that it’s alright :crossed_fingers:t3:

I plugged my OTmkI charger into my MDmkII once by accident and it did something similar as your first case. Didn’t try a second time, though.

This did not impact the MD in any way. It worked fine once I plugged the OG adapter in.

What are you going to do with the MK1 supply? I’m looking for one

As I have no use for it, if you’re in the states PM me your address and I’ll send it to you later next week when I go to FedEx to drop off a TR-8 I’m passing on to a buddy.
