Weird things

I’ve been using the Octa for about 3 years but lately some weird things are happening.

Nowadaysi use the Octa as mixer and FX, putting 3 THRU machines and a compressor on the master channel.

Basically what happens is , i save my project and turn off the machine. Next day when i load the project again, the project isn’t as it supposed to be : some trigs are lost (specially trigs on the THRU machines), FX are changed or deleted, machine configurations change (THRU becomes STATIC) and so on.

This isn’t happening everytime, but often. So i’m doing daily backups and restoring when it happens, but it’s a problem in a live situation.

What should i look for to fix it ?

Save Parts. Can be done live, very quick.
Save project.

Trigs are saved in the pattern, not part.

That would be saved in the part.

When you switch your OT on, it should load the last autosaved state, and OT should autosave everything you do, but don’t switch off too quickly after saving manually and the best practise is to always save the part and save the project once you’re happy with the current state.

When you save the project and switch off, or when switching off in general, do you check the card status led? Don’t switch off when the led is blinking, that indicates OT writes data. Wait a few seconds after the led stopped blinking, then switch off.

Also best to save project iterations to avoid project loss due to corrupted files. Choose “save as new…” from the menu to save under new name.

This sounds like a problem with the CF card.

The best advice is the one from @Schnork and see if it is still happening afterwards …

After a couple of months with no issues, today it happened again :exploding_head:

I turned on my Octa, it loaded the last project i was working on (actually is the only project i always work) and this is what happened :

  • All patterns were 64 steps, now they are all 16
  • All trigs on THRU machines are lost
  • Some settings on scenes are lost

Looks like my last bet is to buy another CF card ?

Did you save the project the last time you powered down? If so try reload project.

FWIW it is good practice to save before turning off each time, use save as new as @Schnork suggests.

I always save, but not ‘Save as new’, as this will polute the CF card over time with lots of new projects… anyway will try that, thanks
