Waldorf M

I take your point here. And considering the experiences I’ve had recently, I should put more stock in build quality, and be willing to pay more for it.

(I wonder if the decision to make this in Germany is a result of the negative response to the first irridium units — or were they built in Germany too?)

Your comment also interested me because I was considering, and still am - off and on, getting a Pro 3. What were the issues you had with it? You’re talking about the inside, not the outside, right?

Will the Waldorf Casino Royale come with its own croupier? :face_with_monocle:

Waldorf partnered with Korg a while back, so I’m guessing they have mfg channels in Germany, Japan, and probably China as well, depending on component etc. In any case, they do things right. EVERY boutique maker of anything can have some early hiccups. The good ones fix them. Waldorf usually has minus a few items on their earlier synths like not-quite-baked XT OS for example. Even then it’s one of the best synths of all time. Nearly objectively

It wasn’t a sales flop or it wasn’t expensive?
FYI, I wasn’t the one making the claim that it hurt Waldorf, simply positing that it seems like that could have a been a product to do that. You can’t even find a published review on the AFB16 which builds the case it wasn’t so much as a minor success.

Oh sorry, I was talking about the 4 pole, not the AFB.

Töörö sounds really lovely but has a few issues. I really didn’t get along with the UI, and there are also some noise problems. Ultimately, and sadly, I sent mine back.

I summarized my experience with it is on this thread. Further down in the thread, somebody got in touch with the developer regarding the noise problems, and they might be looking into some of it. But it won’t fix the UI.

For me, the Töörö is what got me interested in the wavetable + analog filter sound, and I’m flirting with the Waldorf M as it offers that with more knobs to turn (and, unfortunately, an order of magnitude higher price).

Someone posted about an hour of preset fiddling, lots of nice sounds in there.

Instant Drexcya machine!

Ah, that really triggered the GAS. Sounds wonderful!

Yesterday i got it, today i finally had some time to play around with some presets. I have to confess that i didn´t have a Microwave formerly, so this is a very fresh take for me on this classic synth. I like it already a lot. Very inspiring!

Nice! Wish I could get mine so quickly, my guess is I will be waiting at least a month.

…do it! It sounds SO good! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

And I have to say, the FX from the Digitone match with the sound from the M perfectly! The two are made for each other! Thank you Elektron for not saving on the FX chips and algorithms inside the DN, but chosen this studio graded one.

Such a lovely sounding synth!

That’s all I play, an AnalogKeys. I’m a keyboard player too. Sold my acoustic piano. Yeah, it doesn’t make sense really.

I think in the case of the AK, there’s so much more to the whole package than your typical synth, that it makes more sense in that case. I did actually love my Digitone Keys. There are always exceptions of course. I loved the XTk despite the 49 keys. 61 keys with 30 voices would have been perfect. (ala Q)

I also, funny enough, like the look of the Take5 (other than the ugly knobs of course). I hope they make a module for that one though. In fact, Hydra-Deluxe, Take5 (hypothetical desktop), Waldorf M, and a couple of Elektrons, and I’d be a happy person.

That’s it exactly, the keyboard is just one part of it. The small size makes it easy to reach everything quickly.

Yes, and what a coincidence that M stands for „Microwave“ but also a Hommage to Bond characters. In the manual:

This synthesizer can’t be used to prepare a meal. Please try to cook seasonal and regional as much as possible.
