Waldorf Blofeld Editor by Mystery Islands

Demo is up now it seems. Would be cool if it could manage wavetables.

I spent about 10 minutes with the demo, and I’m all ā€œshut up and take my money!ā€. Seriously nice interface. I struggled with the Blowfield editor for a while before giving up – this one looks to be on a whole other level.

check the monstrum media one…

there’s also a cheap on for max for live that is awesome. has random modes and allows all kinds of extra modulation via maxforlive devices if you have any…

edit: oops… my bad… his MWXT editor allows editing/uploading wavetables but not the blofeld editor also doesn’t have AU version… just vst or standalone.

I’ve been using this guy and it’s been getting the job done.

I’ve also been using Gofter, and it’s fine - I keep seeing adverts for this new editor and wonder if either it does more, or is easier to use than Gofter, or people just don’t know about Gofter and think this is the first and only Blofeld editor.

thanks for the post, good information for me. have been looking at blofeld but wary of the lack of hands on, so decent editor is interesting. of course, having preordered digitione, I’m good.
or am I!

Oops sorry, forgot context. If you have iPad and either have, or willing to get the TB Midi Stuff midi controller system, this editor for the Blofeld is excellent.

here’s the maxforlive editor if anyone is in for that… really blows the doors open for modulation since you can modulate anything because it’s a maxforlive device

Anyone tried the MI editor yet? There’s apparently a demo available as of today. Might not get chance to try it myself for a few days.

I had a go but didn’t have too much time to check it extensively. Seems to do what it says on the tin so I have preordered it.

Not topic related but Waldorf has released new firmware for Blofeld v1.24 and Blofeld Keyboard Controller v1.4

Cool. Any thoughts on comparison to Gofter? Any wavetable editing / sample loading?

i wonder what the firmware changes are…i don’t see a change log or anything.

this official quoted text from the interwebz

If you have a brand new Blofeld, this unit has a new hardware controller IC inserted. This controller needs a special OS (1.24). This version is 100% equal to 1.22, only different is the controller integration

I think I’m running 1.23 still

It is, however, official. Whereas 1.23 got removed from their site. Therefore I’m more interested in this version.

It’s the same as 1.22, but suited for newer manufactured devices - so not sure there’s much to be excited about

This one is free and this is not an advert!
It is a Java app though, and is quite large as it contains the Java runtime… The GUI could do with more high contrast but seems like a pretty comprehensive editor (have not tried as no longer have a Blofeld)

I did buy that one and was disappointed. It needs a deprecated version of Java and will not work with the current version, and didn’t seem to work well on my setup even after installing the recommended Java version. The user guide is badly put together (install paths in the PDF were not printed but pasted in as a very low res jpg that was unreadable). The dev’s communications were too brief for me.

First problem hit with the MI editor/librarian. Doesn’t cope with wavetables into the user set or samples.
