There isn‘t a thread about it yet?
I’ll totally try this. If it works the way it promises, it would be great to use with my Soma Pipe.
MINUTES LATER: I just totally tried this. It works the way it promises and would be great to use with my Soma Pipe.
Using the built-in mic on my phone earbuds into the laptop gives a crappy, but passable response into their built-in synths and also into plugins hosted in Bitwig. No perceptible latency. I think it will be a lot of fun and useful with a real mic, and my Audix Fireball would be more convenient than a Soma Pipe.
One issue is that Dubler can only do one trigger out, so you can’t really do a drum kit. One Soma Pipe preset enables button-switching between kick and snare, so adding Dubler on ride or hat would give a more complete beatboxing kit if I can find a combo of sounds that work well together. I wish Dubler could sense some kind of high-middle-low trigger based on the relative pitch of the incoming audio rather than a one-size-fits-all trigger every time it senses an audio envelope. Or maybe there’s some clever MIDI trick that would enable triggering different MIDI semitones without having to sing notes.
Wow not much people have this… I took a long time to get this one. I tried imitone first to experiment a bit… I finally buy Dubler 2 with its mic. Now I wouldn’t get rid of it I really like it… I thought i would add difficulties to sing my ideas but it’s not. I pretty get anything I have in mind as musical midi notes.
This is very very great
speaking for non trained musical people :
I recommend it. You get get the melody out of your heads straight away, no need to find the notes on your keyboard. You can do melody, chords and even drums and percussions. I absolutely love it.
For instance i had an oriental phrase in my mind with vibrato on some notes (pitch modulations), I sing 2, 3 times I get it as midi. I was WTF? smile, laugh this is so cool.
That’s my experience with Dubler 2.
Sometimes you have to sing one octave higher and then transpose your midi, especially with bass it detect better one octave higher. What’s cool is you can sing through Serum, Kontakt or Solo synth from Taqsim (any vst), you sing the synth play it with no latency (at least it’s working for me)
But : even if you can do chords and drums, I would say better if you buy it for melody/lead & Bass that way you will not be disappointed.
you may also have a bit of cleaning the midi files but not much (way less than every audio to midi conversion tools, especially with chords…)
You can records many triggers you just have to train Dubler 2 and tell him this trigger 1 trig this, trigger 2 trig this, trigger 3 trig this
and then you beatbox your rhythm, works very great to me.
Probably a bit of reshaping the groove and timing to get exactly like in your head but it work to me
