Hi,
I’m recently experimenting with TouchDesigner and midi reactive visuals. I’ve started with an Oxi One which send CV infos to my Euorack while still sending duplicated midi data via the USB.
I could also sequence any hardware of software device and getting the midi data.
I was thinking Digi boxes (Digitone II, Digitakt II) could do the same. But since it’s more enclosed architecture and not being a sequencer in the first place I can’t figure a way to do it.
I must make a midi track that copy the internal track. on 4/4 kicks it’s not a problem but with complex sequence and P-locking stuff it’s impossible.
For now what I could do is:
sequence my Digi boxes with the Oxi One
use audio instead of midi (I still not tried if I can get splited audio track in TouchDesigner with Overbridge)
Anyone has a solution, or useful resource to dig in?
Thanks
I might have misunderstood, but couldn’t you set up a sequence on the Oxi One, record it in to the Digitakt/tone sequencer, add your p-locks etc, and then use the original information from the Oxi One to send to TD? That way it’s like a ‘backing’ midi track.
You won’t get p-lock info out of the Elektron sequencer and it wouldn’t be in the Oxi, but you can add whatever seems suitable on the Oxi to trigger a corresponding effect in TD?
Looking into this a bit more out of curiosity, routing INT audio to Main should also enable audio outputs while using Overbridge. It looks like it might de-sync the VST though as it compensates for USB delay, so you could play with settings to see if that can be overcome or potentially use a physical MIDI cable for clock etc.
I mention this in case you can achieve what you’re after in TD using a second set of connections via your interface and audio logic params.
