Visuals and Max for Live . . . Or another way?

I know this should be posted on the Ableton forum but I find that to be a ghost town these days . . .

I want to get some visuals going with my music and can sync Ableton to my sets and thought MFL could be the ticket.

Don’t want to spend big money as I’ve no intention of doing anything remarkable bit synced images and FX would be cool.

Not sure if there’s other cheap ways of doing this that people know are reliable?

I’m on a MacBook.

Cheers,
Adam

Yeah, I saw jitter mentioned frequently but I couldn’t work out what I need to use it.

I’ve got live 10 suite so have MFL but I’m struggling to find how I get Jitter.

I believe Jitter comes with a full license to Max/MSP but you can use some of the things as plugins, there’s a great jitter based suite someone made…

There’s also vizzible

Cheers for your help.
I’ll check it out.

With MFL and Live Studio 10, Jitter and Vizzie are both included. Just try to use the objects and see if they show up in a patch. Here are some clarifications on the difference between the licensed version and the version included with M4L: https://cycling74.com/forums/jitter-limitations-in-max-for-live/

You should have no problems using the stock version of M4L’s visual libraries and there’s nothing you need to add directly, unless you find patches or packages you want to install. Some packages are available once you launch the Max editor in the package manager window. The rest can be installed into any of Max’s search paths on your system (read the docs for more details on this).

But to get started with the tutorials and patching with Jitter, no problem.

Cheers,
I’ll give this a whirl tomorrow and see if I can get something going.
Thanks for the pointers . . . I’ll be back tomorrow with more questions I imagine!:grinning:

These guys have some cool M4L visual devices, well worth checking out
