Thanks John , appreciate your love!
thanks for your reply! no offense taken
thanks for writing back , I too wrote my spiel too fast and after a pretty bad day.
It is triggering to me when I read certain comment because I really try to put out only good vibes and talk about things I would recommend to my brother.
I wish I could rely on an easier form of income but I still need to be a little clickbaity sometimes.
The goal would be to become like loopop, which I met ( yeah I know his face !) and told me he never accept money from company and solely survive with his ( big ) Patreon. Long way to go.
Ciao!
Oora, you keep doing what you’re doing man. I like the music you make and value your opinion on gear. It’s nobody’s business how you acquired your equipment, or how much you make from your channel. It’s apparent that you are passionate about what you do and put a lot of work into your craft.
For some reason synthfluencers and the amount of gear people have brings out the shittiest behavior on this forum. I honestly don’t understand why people feel entitled to know how much other people make or how they can afford their gear.
(also, it’s amusing watching some of the folks here roll back their comments and claim misunderstanding after seeing your post.)
I’m probably just salty because I work my butt off as a school teacher AND farmer AND my wife has a job running a nonprofit helping homeless kids and at the end of the day we still don’t have much disposable income. Cost of living in a small town in the US can’t be that much worse than Berlin right? I guess as far as money goes we just made bad life choices trying to teach, feed, and house people lol. Should have been like my brother-in-law and just got in early on the dogecoin.
It was the comment from @JohntheSavage that made me feel like a naughty schoolboy and hang my head in shame.
Also here to say that your work is great, and who cares what you do with your money and where it comes from. That’s nobody’s business but yours!
Man, you got me wrong.
What I meant was that it’s clear that you’re up to a hard as hell life as a full time content creator and musician.
I feel your struggle man.
It’s a shame it amuses you, it’s not not intended for your entertainment. Being humbled by a real person being on the receiving end of off-hand comments is a good lesson for us all - I don’t see much walking back, merely a broader explanation of what sits behind those comments. I for one didn’t revert any of my statements, merely tried to give them more context
We’re all just buffoons chattering on the internet, but it’s a healthy reminder that there are real people at the other end of those keyboards.
I blame Zahl for all this
Oh sorry I completely misunderstand, apologies!
Thanks!
Being in this space since few years, I understand that money is a triggering topic. Want to know the truth? Sometimes I watch at other , more famous YouTubers ( even friends now) and I feel jealous.
The reality is that mine is like a regular job, and the perks of it is getting synths. But doesn’t come with any safety, sadly. Anyway, I can understand that sometimes seeing a guy with too many toys can be annoying. I love when from that position we can all have a nice chat, like is happening now on this forum.
Mate, dont blame how things works nowadays on your choice. I value teachers more than any crypto lucky millionaire. Your job is a calling, is sacrifice and is WORTH. What you wife does is IMPORTANT and beautiful. I used to volunteer with down syndrome kid and drove around dialysis patient trying to make their life better, those were the thing that filled my heart more.
We grow to think that money is everything, and sadly is hard to get access to things when we are not wealthy.
I am a firm believer that each synth company should have lend unit to give to people that can’t afford them .
I respect what you guys doing and wish you all the best.
Throw in Akai once in a blue moon
I’ve written before how I’m a therapist that works with drug addiction in rehabs. I’ve struggled with prescription pill abuse, and now my biggest addiction struggle is to gear!
I can’t help but wonder and analyze the way GAS affects most of us, through the lens of an addiction therapist.
Appreciate your responses and videos! Especially the video quality, your videos always look so high quality and good.
Off to play with my Perfourmer (that I discovered through your videos) and A4 keys and mk1 (GAS, I have both!)
mods can we please get this topic split…? I saw 50 unread posts and was excited to read more about the Perfourmer, not synthfluencer drama.
It seems to be resolved now, no need to split I think.
Another cool Janis vid which I don’t think has been posted:
Making Minimalist Drum Loops with the Vermona Perfourmer Mk2
My comment was also meant as tongue-in-cheek…sometimes hard to get the intended vibe from a short reply online without context.
Also, I think the discussion was mostly centered around the Zahl which - due to being around 40x the price of an Analog Four mkII - I think is understandable.
I enjoy your music and while I usually just listen to the snippets on IG I‘m usually impressed - especially versus most other synthfluencers (which I won’t name on here).
That is where I agree with you 100 percent.
No harm intended. I just get weary of all the judgement and assumption that goes on here w/r/t youtube and “synthfluencers”. It was a bit ironic that you were among those called out because i have seen you speak the voice of reason in the past on similar threads.
