Have I missed something? I can’t find a mention in the manual of velocity modulating anything else than volume (plus multisample selection, I supose).
I mean, my Syntakt and Digitone can route velocity to four different destinatioins. Is this missing in the Tonverk? That’s a function I use all the time, for modulation filter cutoff and more. For me it’s absolutely essential, so if that’s the case, there will be no Tonverk for me as long as it’s missing.

yea i also assumed it was apart of this
i think in the intro videos they showed off the similar modulation menu for the mod wheel, so i assumed it had the same as digitone and digitakt 2

Alas, yes ! … this ‘omission’ was reported back in testing
PS : There’s no given that an instrument should have a feature just because a forebear did … some classic synths are classic because the feature set was reduced and it becomes all sweet spot
That notwithstanding, i think it feels missing too due to the fact it’s otherwise sorta tricky to modulate parameters of the sampled voice, compounded by the lack of a Keytracking Mod source too
The point is, aspects of this are unfortunately a conscious choice, it’s not a right due to a precedent, it may also be a simplification for early versions of the device or for any other reason … we can’t assume either will come although they are the most useful to the user imho as both can be simply sequenced (i.e. implicit) easily within a track
imho both velo mod and keytrack are much more suited to proper synthesis voices, so this may be a non changing situation, but i’d like to think it could change eventually because imho the sound-design tweakability is rather limited on the current voice architecture

I would say velocity modulation of filter cutoff is especially essential in a sampler, unless you have multisampled velocity layers.
Besides, I don’t see why velocity modulation is more difficult than pitch bend, modulation wheel, aftertouch or breath control. It should actually be easier, since it only happens at note-on while the others can change throughout the note.
To me, this is very much like one step forward and two steps back.

I dont think modwheel mod matrix is on board yet either? Just pitchbend and that other one, where you blow into a mouthpiece… breath control?
I think the mod matrixes missing would make a lot of sense on TV, since it can also play wavetables and single cycle waveforms, so its synthesis capabilities arent exactly insignificant… Can only hope they will get added in time

Seeing conflicting answers - do these actions get recorded anywhere on the sequencer when in live rec?
I was referring specifically to the macro pages. All four I listed exist.

Yeah I understood that. I was asking if you are in live recording mode, and for example apply aftertouch, if that is recorded and heard on playback. It’s not possible on the other devices so assuming nothing has changed, but it’s been a long requested feature.

Not if you manually alter the value on the Macro page, no.
Can’t easily test sending from an external controller.

If I understand it correctly, there is no way to modulate a single voice externally, apart from velocity affecting volume and NRPNs for the subtracks.
Yeah, velocity and keytrcking are pretty vital for sounddesign with polyphonic samples. Keytracking/polyphonic lfo’s, etc…
You’re corect to state that these omitted features are not a right and might be a concious choice.
Elektron can indeed do what they like, even if it is stupid.
I know 100 percent the Tonverk is not for me if this is the case, and i’m sure a lot of people will agree. And the first dissapointed owners are trickling in. I mean it is such a vital feature, i can imagine people not checking before purchase and just assuming that it can do this.
I quite liked the Elektron workflow and would’ve liked to stay in that ecosphere, but there’s quite a few samplers out there that can do all this and more, and they don’t even cost half the price of a TV

Just to clarify: TV has velocity to volume, and keytracking for the filter. What it lacks are the macros for velocity and keytracking.

This is so disappointing! Just got mine yesterday and was having a blast until I realized velocity isn’t part of the macro options. I also assumed it was a feature bc of a demo I saw that showed the other macro options. I refrained from the DT1 and OT because they lacked velocity mods. I use keyboard and drum pads to play my synths and it’s pretty much a deal breaker. I really hope they add it soon!

Yes, that’s another thing that’s missing. What strikes me about the Tonverk is the discrepancy between the marketing language and the lack of the most basics for a sampler. When one of the uncritical Elektron fans comments on it with “creativity arises from scarcity,” I lose faith in humanity

I think (I hope) that velocity modulation is planned for a future update.
I mean, how can you justify having aftertouch modulation already present and not including velocity modulation?
It would be crazy, in my opinion.

In the meantime, one way to get around the problem is indeed to use p-lock.
