Using scenes/performance to change patterns, times etc?

Hi

Ok I am liking the Rytm more and more each day i have used it

the direct jump to new pattern has opened up a lot of possibilities for me

I am not at home now so i cant check it out so just wondering

is it possible to set up scenes or performance pads to change patterns? Times signatures? Number of steps etc?

hi Leigh

See here

And see (last post)
Elektron’s Jon’s answer to it

thanks Chris
looks like there is a fair few of us thinking the same thing

Everybody who has seen a Tempest or JJ OS
Only can wonder, why it is not available on the RYTM.

It is so fundamental more effective to make the RYTM more alive
with it instead of trying to achieve this via the upcoming “random trigs” feature,
that i am sitting here scratching my head literally.

it’s not just random trigs, it’s alot more! I am really excited about the upcoming update myself, even if it does not address your wishes, it’s going to make the sequencing a lot, lot deeper (and you’ll get one fill per pattern at least!)

If I put on my “psych profiler” hat on for a second to evaluate your suggestion, this would mean a big recoding of both the elektron sequencers and overbridge. That is, if we’re talking about the suggested “patterns within a pattern” thingy - just getting a way to use the pads to pattern jump mght be a helluva lot easier to implement.

Personally, I think your idea is solid, but even if Elektron decides to run with it, it’s going to take a long time for them to implement properly

Thanks for your long answer.

For now, pads to pattern jump would be fine,

(Even the right external controller would be great,
If it can adress enough cc)

The “pattern within pattern” way would just be the most helpful,
Keeping patterns and their responding breaks/fills sorted.

the pads to pattern jump shouldn’t be too much of a problem to do , though, should it?

Where’s it? Can’t find any Jon’s reply on that thread…

self-censorship perhaps? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Elektron’s initial response to cgb’s feature request is quoted in a post by cgb on page 2 of the linked thread (17469).

I would be already superhappy if I could change a pattern with one press of a button, instead of two! Or am I missing some feature where I can lock a bank to be active permanently?
Sometimes I see the pattern-LEDs in the bottom lit permanent, but I cannot select them, however, this seems rather a bug then accidentally an activation of the feature I´m hoping for…
