Using OT mk1 compact flash in another OT

Hello hive mind,
Would my OT mk1 compact flash work seamlessly in another OT…just thinking of travel/gig options…

I think so, because all samples and projects are stored there. But be careful with all those pins

Yes for sure! I have both mk1 and mk2, works totally fine switching cards between them. It always says “wrong flash card continue?” when you swap between octatracks, just gotta press yes and then load your project. Easy!

Yes, as said above - nothing to worry about at all. I’m swapping all the time between my 2 OTs. :+1:

Haha - yes, it’s absolutely correct to emphasise the importance of being careful there, I should have done the same :slightly_smiling_face:.

I’m never moving my OTs from the studio so swapping cards is a very non-stressed situation for me.

hi!
old thread but maybe you can help. when you swap will it keep your latest work or only the latest “save project” state?

Oh, good question! I don’t actually have 2 OTs anymore - swapped one for a Tonverk - so cannot fully test, but I’m quite sure I had to do firm saves before moving, at least I’m sure I did .

I’m pretty sure it loads the last saved project

There are work files (.work) and saved files (.strd). Saved files are a copy of current work files.

It always load work files, saved files are loaded and replace work files only if you use RELOAD function.

When you remove the card, you have to use SYNC TO CARD, otherwise last changes are not written to work files on the card.
