Using MS with Logic Pro

Hi all

Im considering buying MS to use with Logic. I want to be able to capture both midi and audio from the MS, but I’m unsure how of the set everything up.
I use a Focusrite 4i4 audio interface for sound and I’m using a Mac.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

that is pretty easy.

You could just plug the M:S via USB into your mac. It is an audio and MIDI interface itself.

Configure it in the „Device Config Menu“

11.8 DEVICE

Use this menu to set various device related settings.

11.8.1 USB MODE

Selects which functionality Model:Samples has over USB.
A+M Model:Samples functions both as a sound card and as a MIDI interface. MID Model:Samples functions as a MIDI interface.

Hi there!

If you already have a audio interface you pretty much go everything you need.

But since the MS is itself already an Audio/MIDI interface, you should just be able to connect the MS direct to mac with USB and that will send both to your DAW.

In Logic you will need to set up channels for each of the audio tracks, or you can just send the main output of the MS as a since stereo channel to Logic. That will get you sound into the DAW to record it.

For the MIDI side its similar, you will need to set up another channel in logic, but this will be a “hardware instrument” channel. When set up in this way, you can record the MIDI data from MS into a MIDI track in the DAW.

Hope this helps a bit!
