Hi I am new to using the cv tracks on the A4 and to using external modular kit , I have set up cv a to pitch/oct and cv b gate and when I have both setup to as src is track 4 and this works fine and the modular plays . I have tried the exact same but tried to use the cv track as source but nothing plays , anyone any help thanks.
just make sure that both A and B have source CV and that your cable is wired up correct, sounds like you’re close to getting it, also make sure the CV track is not muted !! if muted it will still play from keys if set right
Thanks I have to places trigs on track 4 to get this to work is that correct .
depending on what signal type you are sending you’ll need trigs on the respective track and source as well as pitch/note
keep it simple
make an internal track on 1
copy that to cv or 4 and make sure it mirrors 1 when played
it something’s not right change your source and check voltages/calibration etc
calibration detailed in OS release notes
there’s loads of threads about setting up cv
would you still have the src set to c.v or track 1 ? I have searched but cant see much about setting it up .
you would need to decide which track you want to use to sequence the modular first i believe
can you sequence straight from the cv track and use that as source or do you need to use 1 of the internal tracks .
You don’t need to use one of the A4 tracks as source, you can use the CV track.
You mainly use the A4 synth track if you want to use the A4’s VCF/VCA (ie. use your modular as an external Osc).
If you are using an external VCF/VCA in your modular, or elsewhere, you are probably best just to use the CV track, thereby freeing up an A4 synth track.

thanks just need to figure out why I can’t get it to work now .
How have you setup the audio out of the modular? Does go to the a4?
If so, are playing it on the external ins on the fx track, or as an osc source on a synth track? If its an osc source on a synth track you would need trigs to open the vca on the synth track, triggering the cv wouldn’t let the audio through… Could that be the prob?
when using the cv track I always use the external ins on the fx track for play back.
is the CV track muted ? use the cv track as source, but please provide more info, it’s hard to second guess what the issue is
Managed to get it working using the cv track and using the fx track ext in for audio the only thing being that the sound is there constantly , when I stop the sequencer the modular is still playing the basic sound I made to test it out. Is this correct or do I need to use a synth track to get it stop and starting .
have you got a an env set up to open/close whatever is coming from your modular?
This.
I assign one of my CV outs of the A4 going into my modular VCA and then use the envelope on the CV track, make sure you assign the envelope to whatever CV out you plug it into and you should be good to go.

hi thanks for the advice but not sure how to do this .
at this point my advice is to politely RTFM
Hi I have looked at the manual and sorry I still can’t figure it out , thats why I am asking for help
First - I assume you have the correct cables coming out of your A4 to send CV seeing as you are getting things to work just with continuous sound. It would also be helpful to know what modules you are using, but below should get you going.
To assign an envelope to your VCA just plug in CVB (or whatever you choose) into your VCA’s CV and change your setting on CVB on your A4 to Line. Then on the CV track select Envelope. Under the DST (Destination) select CV Line B (I’m not in front of my A4 but it is some thing like that). Then make sure your depth is cranked up - mine sits around 70 most of the time and then you can change your ADSR and shape. That should get rid of your continuous sound and only respond when you play the keyboard.
Hope that helps!
