Using chromatic mode in step rec: possible?

hi there,
is it possible to use chromatic mode not only in the live rec mode but also in the grid rec mode?

thanks

Pretty sure the answer is no.

When you’re in step record, the [Trig] keys all select/activate a trig on the chosen step(s). There’s no “toggle selection of this step” function which would then allow you to choose a note from a chromatic view.

:frowning: what a pity.

If you have any kind of midi keyboard, you can use that. If you have a midi interface, you can even use a phone midi app.

you mean push a trig and press a note of your midi keyboard will write the chromatic event even in step rec mode?

Yeah there’s a range of the auto channel (I think? havent used my OT in a while) that can play/record the chromatic stuff.

Keep in mind though that the chromatic mode is just a hack of the pitch parameter and you can get the same result from just p.locking pitch, if you don’t really need to “play” the notes in.

Exactly that. One you get it set up it works great. It’s worth having a small MIDI keyboard just for this IMO.

I prefer an OP-Z for sequencing precisely because it has a built-in keyboard. It’s just so much faster.

thanks
