I just picked up an Alpha Juno, and I want to integrate it with my Digitakt in a way I’m unsure how to do. I want to use the Juno as the master keyboard for my set up, allowing me to use the keyboard to input notes in the Digitakt sequencer, but still have the Alpha Juno available to be sequenced by the Digitakt, if that makes sense. Like being able to use the Juno’s keyboard to play a riff on other MIDI tracks without losing the full functionality of the synth? Is this possible?
If there is a setting that allows you to turn off MIDI Key internal, then yes. The idea would be then that the DT sequences the Juno while the keyboard plays the (external) MIDI track.
I have an AJ2 but forget at the moment if this is possible. Im not near it at the mo…
(If you have an iOS, Alpha Editor is a must.)
Yes you can turn off midi local on the AJ. Just press the midi button
I have not figured anyway to take advantage of midi cc though. I think maybe the aj doesnt accept midi cc messages? Does anyone know? Would love to be able to use these features
It does, but not for every parameter like modern synths:
Hardware programmers like the JunoCTRL allow you to convert CC messages to the SysEx format used by the Juno for parameter control.
Ah, i was trying to use the cc i found for the filter freq.
Yeah those controls arent very useful.
I have a dt300 but i dont think it has that feature. Maybe ill have to sell my dt300 and get a midiclub. Theyre kind of hard to come by though
If you only want to control the filter cutoff, then you can use aftertouch for that. Just set VCF AFTR for your patch on the Juno and enable the AT knob on the Digitakt:
There’s also a VCA AFTR parameter.
Ah great idea! Thanks for that
anther trick like this one?
I use this constantly on the Peak with the Digitakt, you can assign the AT, MW, and Breath Controller so quickly in the Peak mod matrix so I just use those controls on the Digitakt instead of setting up CCs or NRPN control. Much easier, and three modulation sources are usually plenty. If I need more they are easy to configure but I rarely do.
