Upload midi file to internal sequencer track?

Has someone an idea if this could work ? Could i upload a midi sequence to the internal sequencer? (to a specific track?) If not, could it be added to the wishlist?

It’s not implemented at the moment, and I personally doubt whether Elektron would ever do that.

The most likely way to get that functionality would be through a third-party application.

But i could copy a midi file to the octatrack for example ?

You can’t directly copy a MIDI file into an Octatrack pattern. You could play a MIDI file from another sequencer into the MIDI In of any Elektron instrument and record it.

That’s also not completely 100% true.
the octatrack will not record any Sysex information. so if the midifile being played, that part will not be included in the recording.
the octatrack only records CC, if you have them attached to one of the buttons… so if your midi file contains lots of CC your bummed.
Personally speaking, I would just give up on the idea of importing midi whatso-ever… its just not that type of machine… That’s basically the difference between a full-blown hardware midi-sequencer, a computer… and a performance device like the elektrons…

No doubt the (possible) complexity of a midi pattern would not translate to a step seq layout. You’d be better off controlling the AR externally with some other sequencer in that case, plenty of sequencers out there that load midi files…
