Unwanted high pitch tones from OT MK1

Hi all,

I couldn’t find an existing thread for this which matched my own issues. I have an OT MK1 and am playing a sample, triggered once on Step 1 of Page 1. The sample then plays for 14 seconds or so. As soon as the sample ends it is replaced by a high pitched screeching/beeping sound, which is clearly audible through the phones output. Only if I mute the track does the sound disappear. I haven’t assessed whether it is also audible from the Main Outs just yet, but fear it may be.

Does anyone have any experience with this? It would be great to know what’s causing the issue and whether it’s of concern. Worth mentioning that there are no effects, the signal is completed dry.

Cheers,

Sam

I’d check your audio editor and your playback setup. Is there a loop point on your sample? Has it been moved? Try setting loop to OFF. When a very small section of a sample is looped you can end up with a pitched tone.

No worries! If you wanted to have a loop set up but didn’t want it to trigger every time, you could use amp HOLD/REL. If you can match the amp envelope with the length of the sample you could use scenes to open the envelope and trigger the loop. Just a thought! Happy octatracking!
