Unfiltered Audio - Battalion (soft drum synth)

Thanks for the reply. Loading it into a host works fine for me.

This is amazing news. Also i dont know if anyone asked/ mentioned, but please … pleaaaaaaase put a global or per track melodic quantiser so you sequence random melodic elements

I just bought this app and played it for two hours straight. iOS has been my primary music creation environment since 2012. I’ve spent a fortune in time and money on music apps from all of the best developers. Battalion is a rare gem in the pantheon of Loopy, Patterning, Drambo, Koala, Sunrizer, Turnado, AUM, Audiobus, Animoog, Borderlands, etc.

I list all those apps to express just how amazing this one is. Thank you for making this and continuing development (the most crucial aspect of legendary iOS music making apps). Very much looking forward to patterns and MIDI out, however, the app is phenomenal as is.

what’s the patterns thing that’s been mentioned? is it the ability to save and recall multiple patterns in 1 session?

I’ve only just seen this thread today n started looking into battalion. sounds amazin btw.

I wanted to finally get Battalion on iPad but for someone who own all UA plugins on pc and all but battalion on iOS the 45 euros entry ticket is way too steep. I’ll wait for a sale eventually.

I have a question for you guys. When I use the Global Depth button, the volume inevitably goes higher than the “dry” pattern (more saturation, etc.). So when I make a transition wet to dry, it feels kind of anticlimatic. How do you manage to equalize the volyme of the wet and the dry signal?

It sounds amazing, had a quick try of it earlier. Not a fan of the sequencing but the sounds out of this are brilliant. Definitely one for creating samples out and loading into something else for me or sequencing it via something else as the perform section is quality.

anyone know if ableton Move in controller mode would automap it’s encoders to the perform page macros? or if they can be by using an instrument rack or somit?

ableton Move specifically.

The basic setup would be:

  1. Add an empty Instrument Rack
  2. Add Battalion to the Instrument Rack
  3. Map the 8 Macros to the Performance controls that you want (I think Ableton now has 16 macros per Rack, so you can have pages).
  4. From there, when that Rack has the “blue hand” on it, those macros should be easily manipulated on Push or Move.

Alternatively:

  1. Just add Battalion
  2. Click “Configure” on the Ableton Battalion wrapper. This puts Ableton in mapping mode
  3. On Battalion’s Performance Page, click/move the controls you want mapped. These will appear on the Ableton wrapper as horizontal sliders.
You can add many more controls this way, giving you more “pages” to work with on the controllers. You could then save that as an Ableton preset (device preset if you just want the mapping, track preset if you want to group a bunch of output tracks together so you have per-track output ready in Battalion, etc.) for easy reuse.

Move is super cool. I bought one at Buchla & Friends this year after slicing breaks on it. My six-year-old son loves it, and it’s the first piece of gear that has clicked with him. The fact that there’s now RNBO hacking is just icing on the cake.

deadly, that should work perfectly with move so. I had one briefly before n it was slick in controller mode. what I used it for pretty much exclusively.

that’s amazin. might pick one up again & grab battalion. thanks Fleming

Move in controller mode is very underappreciated. It’s perfect for battalion cause you can do parameter locks easily.

This has never been fixed, right?
Yesterday I installed v1.2.0 (beta 3 from the dropbox) and today I noticed this is still happening.

The Reson signal just keeps hanging in the aether… :satellite:

Is there any documentation for the Sequencer knobs on the Performance page? No tooltips either!

We’re preparing a lot of Battalion news this month! In case you didn’t see it on our socials, here’s our first announcement:

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll fix that in this upcoming patch. Essentially, turning up Density on the Performance page adds an offset to the Density knob on all of the sequencers.

Battalion in VCV, eh? Sounds perfect.

I’m gonna need everyone to go ahead and stop making modular synthesis look appealing. Brb touching up the salt circle around my house

So, the VCV rack is a precursor to the hardware Battalion then?

We’re gonna have a fully hardware battalion before getting patterns :stuck_out_tongue:
